Prep Baseball Louisiana: Playoff Performers (Quarterfinal Round)

The Prep Baseball Louisiana Playoff staff will highlight the top playoff performances after the completion of each round of the 2024 LHSAA playoffs.  It serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances during each week of the playoffs. 

NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches from around the state.  If you are a coach and are interested in submitting a player for our Playoff Performers article, please contact State Director Alex Armand at [email protected].  Our Playoff Performers article will be released each Tuesday, over the next three weeks, after the completion of each round of the playoffs.

PLAYOFF PEFORMERS (QUARTERFINAL ROUND)

William Schmidt RHP / Catholic BR, LA / 2024

The LSU recruit moved his season record to 9-0 and ERA to 0.49 last week, after a dominant quarterfinal start against Jesuit in Game 1 of their quarterfinal series.  Schmidt tossed a complete game one-hit shutout with 0 BB and 12 K's.

Grayden Harris LHP / Central BR, LA / 2024

The Southern Miss recruit delivered for the Wildcats again last week, in Game 1 of their quarterfinal series matchup, against West Monroe.  Harris tossed a complete-game shutout giving up only 3 H with 4 BB and 6 K's.  He also went 2-3 at the plate with a HR, 2B, and 2 RBI's to lead Central BR to the 5-0 Game 1 win.  

Jordin Griffin OF / Barbe, LA / 2027

The state's top player in the 2027 class had a nice weekend at the plate for the Bucs in their quarterfinal series win over Mandeville.  Griffin went 3-6 with 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R, and 3 BB.

Caiden Barcia LHP / OF / Doyle, LA / 2024

The uncommitted senior was brilliant in his quarterfinal start against Red River.  Barcia tossed a complete game no-hitter with 14 K's to lead the Tigers back to the state tournament, where they'll face off against #1 seed South Beauregard.  

Jace Duhon RHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2024

The Louisiana-Monroe recruit was good once against last week in the quarterfinals against Loreauville.  In Game 1, Duhon tossed a five inning no-hitter with 1 BB and 10 K's.

Caleb Hastings C / Lutcher, LA / 2024

The LSU-Eunice recruit went off last weekend for the Bulldogs in their quarterfinal round series against North DeSoto.  Hastings went 4-5 (.800) with 2 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBI, and 2 BB.

Layden Sepulvado OF / South Beauregard, LA / 2024

The uncommitted senior continues to perform for the Golden Knights and remians one of the top uncommitted 2024's in the state.  Sepulvado went 3-6 (.500) with a HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, and 3 SB.

Clayton Folks LHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2025

The uncommitted junior had another good start for the Golden Knights in Game 2 of their quarterfinal round playoff series against Loreauville.  Folks tossed a complete game shutout and gave up only 2 H with 2 BB and 9 K's to improve to 9-0 on the year.  

Gunner Courtney SS / South Beauregard, LA / 2024

The Southeast Arkansas College recruit had another good weekend in the Golden Knights quarterfinal round series against Loreauville.  Courtney went 4-5 (.800) with 2 RBI and 4 R.  

Jackson Monica St. Charles Catholic, LA / 2024

The Delgado Community College recruit had a monster weekend for St. Charles Catholic in their quarterfinal series win over #8 seed Pope John Paul II.  Monica went 5-10 (.500) at the plate with a GS, 2B, 6 RBI, and 4 R.  His grand slam was a walk-off grand slam to end the Game 3 via the ten-run rule.  He also earned the win on the mound in Game 3, after tossing 4 1/3 IP giving up 3 H with 1 K.  

Easton Sanders 1B / RHP / Glenbrook, LA / 2025

The Louisiana Tech recruit game through in a big way for the Apaches last week in their quarterfinal matchup against #3 seed Ouachita Christian.  Sanders tosse a complete game and gave up only 2 ER with 2 BB and 5 K's, while also going 2-3 at the plate to lead Glenbrook to the upset win and a state tournament appearance. 

Tanner Webb RHP / Benton, LA / 2025

Webb came through with the biggest performance of the season for the Tigers last Saturday.  In a win or go home Game 3 against St. Amant, Webb tossed a complete game shutout giving up only 3 H with 0 BB and 5 K's to lead Benton to the state tournament.  In Game 1, he earned the save after coming in with the bases loaded and 1 out to strike out the next two hitters.

Drew Ferguson RHP / West Monroe, LA / 2025

In a win or go home Game 2 for the Rebels, Ferguson delivered a masterful performance for West Monroe.  Ferguson tossed a complete game no-hitter with 1 BB and 7 K's to lead the Rebels to the 3-0 win.  

Carson Rainwater RHP / DeQuincy, LA / 2025

The uncommitted junior has been stellar in the playoffs for DeQuincy.  Last week in the quarterfinals, he tossed a complete game two-hit shutout and lowered his season ERA to 0.90, while leading DeQuincy back to the state tournament.  

Kaul Perkins SS / Oak Forest, LA / 2025

The former Future Gamer had a big week to help Oak Forest advance to the MAIS 5A South State Tournament.  Perkins went 5-7 (.714) with 2 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI, and 4 R.  

Nate Alario OF / John Curtis Christian, LA / 2026

The uncommitted sophomore had a nice weekend for the Patriots in their quarterfinal series win over Brother Martin.  Alario went 5-7 (.714) with a 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, 4 R, and 7 BB's.  

Myles Ledoux INF / C / Barbe, LA / 2026

The uncommitted sophomore and former Jr. Future Gamer continued his hot playoff hitting last weekend against Mandeville.  Out of the leadoff spot, Ledoux went 5-9 (.556) with 1 RBI, 2 R, and 2 BB.

Griffin Hebert MIF / RHP / Sam Houston, LA / 2024

The Broncos have been playing some good baseball in the playoffs and Hebert has been dominant on the moune in his two playoff starts.  Last Saturday against Live Oak, in Game 2, the Louisiana-Lafayette recruit tossed a complete game one-hit shutout with 1 BB and 8 K's on 77 pitches (52 strikes | 25 balls).

Owen Galt SS / RHP / Barbe, LA / 2024

The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit had a big weekend for the Bucs, both at the plate and on the mound, against Mandeville.  Galt went 3-8 (.375) with a RBI and RS, but his biggest contribution came on the mound.  In a win or go home Game 3 vs. the Skippers, he tossed a complete-game shutout giving up only 3 H with 1 BB and 5 K's.
