The Prep Baseball Louisiana High School Player of the Week highlights the best performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wedensday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

 

 

Week 4 Player of the Week

 

2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

 

 

Week 4 Stats

-Average: .500

-Homeruns: 2

-Doubles: 3

-Runs Batted In: 10

-Runs Scored: 6

-Stolen Bases: 2

-Outfield Assists: 2

Walker is off to a fantastic start to the 2024 season, as they currently own a 13-5 overall record, and Montgomery is a big reason why.  The uncommitted sophomore had a monster week at the plate for the Wildcats in Week 4, as he went 8-16 (.500) with 2 HR, 3 2B, 10 RBI, and 6 R, while also swiping 2 bases.  He also played stellar defense, as he recorded two outfield assists last week.  A Top-5 player in our 2026 State Rankings, Montgomery has always owned some of the best raw tools in the class, and if he can continue to perform at the 5A level this spring, then he'll surely be a hot commodity for college recruiters this coming summer.
