The Prep Baseball Louisiana High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wedensday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

 

 

Week 1 Pitcher of the Week

 

2024 LHP Landon Fontenot (Calvary Baptist HS)

 

 

Week 1 Stats

-Innings Pitched: 9

-Earned Runs: 0

-Hits: 3

-Strikeouts: 16

-Walks: 2

Fontenot showed why he's one of the state's top southpaws in Week 1, as he earned wins against Ouachita Christian and Notre Dame.  On Monday, the Louisiana Tech recruit tossed 5 innings against the Eagles and gave up 3 H, 1 R, and 0 ER with 2 BB and 4 K's.  He then turned around on Saturday and threw 4 no-hit innings against the Pioneers with 0 BB and 12 K's.  For the week, Fontenot went 2-0 with 16 K's to only 2 BB's, across 9 IP, while giving up only 3 H and 0 ER.
