The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors.

Player of the Week

Kaiden Broussard LHP / Central Private, LA / 2024 Central Private went a perfect 4-0 last week and Broussard was a big reason for the Hawks success.  The Baton Rouge Community College recruit went 6-11 (.545) at the plate with 3 HR, 1 2B, and 10 RBI.  The majority of his damage done was last Saturday in a big matchup with one of the top Non-Select D-II teams in Brusly.  In that game alone, Broussard went 3-3 with 2 HR, 4 RBI, and 2 R.  He also was magnificent on the mound for the Hawks, as he earned the win, after tossing 6 2/3 IP giving up 7 H and 1 ER with 1 BB and 3 K's.

 

Pitcher of the Week

Brody Trosclair LHP / Thibodaux, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 48 / POS: 5 Thibodaux had lost three out of their last five games, heading into last Tuesday's district matchup with Destrehan, and junior LHP Brody Trosclair came through in a big way for the Tigers.  The Northwestern State recruit got the start and tossed seven innings of no-hit baseball with 4 BB and 9 K's to earn the win, as Thibodaux defeated Destrehan by a score of 2-1 in eight innings.

 

Other Notable Performances

	Seth Cook UTIL / RHP / Grace Christian, LA / 2024 Cook had a monster week for Grace Christian last week, especially in their upset win against Northwood Shreveport.  For the week, he had 4 HR's, 2 2B's, 12 RBI, 9 R, and 2 SB.
	Brennan Champagne LHP / Covenant Christian, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 138 / POS: 6 Champagne turned in an exceptional outing last Tuesday against Vermilion Catholic.  The uncommitted southpaw earned the win, after tossing 6 2/3 shutout IP, while giving up 4 H with 2 BB and a whopping 16 K's.

Colton Smith RHP / Parkway, LA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 91 / POS: 24 The Jones College recruit improved his season record to 7-0, after tossing a complete game against Haughton last Saturday, giving up 2 ER on 5 H with 3 BB and 9 K's.

	Clayton Folks LHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2025 The uncommitted southpaw improved his season record to 7-0 last week, after tossing 5 shutout IP, while allowing 1 H with 7 K's against Jennings.  Folks also hit at a .400 clip with 3 RBI's last week.
	Landen Derouen SS / Erath, LA / 2027 The freshman shortstop had another good week for Erath last week.  Derouen went 8-13 (.615) with 1 2B, 1 3B, and 2 RBI.  His biggest performance came during Erath's upset win over St. Amant, as he went 3-4 in that game alone.

Bryce Deason OF / South Beauregard, LA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 175 / POS: 35 The Hill College recruit had another stellar week at the plate for the Golden Knights in Week 6.  Deason went 7-12 (.583) with 2 2B, 1 3B, 7 RBI, 4 R, and 7 SB.

	Landon Lemaire OF / Erath, LA / 2026 Lemaire had a great week at the plate for Erath last week, as he went 7-11 (.636) with a HR, 1 2B, 1 3B, and 7 RBI.
	Rhyson Carroway RHP / Captain Shreve, LA / 2024 Carroway turned in a brilliant outing last week for the Gators in their win over Byrd.  The uncommitted southpaw tossed a complete-game shutout, while giving up 2 H with 2 BB and 7 K's.

	Drew Ferguson RHP / West Monroe, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 23 / POS: 6 The Louisiana Tech recruit led West Monroe to a 6-0 victory last week over Ouachtia Christian.  Ferguson tossed 6 2/3 shutout IP, while giving up only 1 H with 2 BB and 5 K's, to move his season record to 5-0 with a 0.90 ERA.
	Logan Mallard 1B / South Terrebonne, LA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 83 / POS: 5 The Nicholls State recruit had a big week at the plate for the Gators in Week 6.  Mallard went 7-9 (.778) with 3 HR, 1 2B, and 7 RBI with 6 BB and 0 K's.
	Brennan Broussard C / Erath, LA / 2025 The uncommitted junior swung the bat well last week for Erath, as he hit at a .571 clip for the week with 3 2B's.
	Bryce Fontenot MIF / Sulphur, LA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 28 / POS: 4 The McNeese State recruit had a nice week at the plate for the Tors, as Sulphur finished 4-1 for Week 6.  Fontenot went 4-9 (.444) with a HR, 1 3B, 7 RBI, and 4 SB.
	Lawton Littleton LHP / Barbe, LA / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 142 / POS: 34 The former Jr. Future Gamer was really good again in his start last week against New Iberia.  Littleton tossed 6 1/3 shutout IP, while giving up 3 H with 2 BB and 12 K's.
	Diego Corrales LHP / Barbe, LA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 62 / POS: 10 The uncommitted southpaw continues to turn in quality outing after quality outing for the Bucs.  Last week, Corrales earned another win, after tossing 6 2/3 IP giving up 2 R and 0 ER on 7 H with 1 BB and 5 K's.
