Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2026 State Rankings Update (Risers)
September 5, 2024
Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2026 class, now that the summer season has come to an end. Throughout the summer, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before. Our state rankings for the 2026 class expanded to 210 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list. Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.
STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2026 CLASS)
+ 2026 INF Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)
The Sterlington product has continued to get better and better, over the last couple of years, and he really started to pick up steam at the end of last spring. His success at the LHSAA State Tournament carried over into the summer circuit, and this year's Future Games. Sheets picked up a couple of hits on the week, and had some unfortunate luck, as he recorded 90+ mph exit velocities in three at-bats where he didn't record a hit. Defensively, he showed that he can make every play up the middle, and can throw on the run from different arm angles with accuracy. Something that also may get overlooked with Sheets, is his vocal presence on the field, which is invaluable and was on full display at the Lakepoint Sports Complex during the Future Games. The 6'2" 190 lbs. left-handed hitting infielder announced his verbal commitment to Baylor in early August, and moves into the Top 5 in this update.
+ 2026 INF Andrew Sharp (Captain Shreve HS)
Sharp played at a high-level all summer for the Knights Knation 16U Scout group, and he had a nice showing at this year's Future Games. The Captain Shreve product finished his Future Games week 3-4 (.750) at the plate with a 2B, 2 RBI, 3 SB, 5 BB, and was on-base 9/10 plate appearances. He's another guy that plays above his overall tool-set, and plays faster on the field, especially when he's on the basepaths, as he showed that he was one of the team's best baserunners during our trip to Atlanta, GA. Sharp moves up to the #13 spot in this rankings update.
+ 2026 INF/RHP Aubrey St. Angelo (Brusly HS)
The Brusly product got off to a hot start at this summer's Future Games and never let off the gas pedal. St. Angelo went 3-8 (.375) at the plate with a 2B, 2 RBI, and 2 SB, and he showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Like most of our Future Games infielders, he played all four infield positions during the event and played clean defense at every stop. On the mound, St. Angelo closed out Game 3 and earned the save against Alabama, after tossing two shutout IP with 1 BB and 3 K's. The two-way standout moves up to #14 in this update.
+ 2026 RHP Christian Sauska (Newman HS)
6'2" 185 lbs. frame with broad shoulders and a strong lower-half. Sauska earned a Future Games invite, after showing well at our New Orleans Summer ID. The Newman product is an easy mover down the mound with a compact arm stroke and releases the ball from a near over-the-top slot. His 84-88 mph FB plays best to the glove-side and up in the zone and he has really good feel for a mid-70's CH to both RHH's and LHH's. Add in a solid low-70's "11-5" shaped CB and an upper-70's SL with short lateral break, which gives Sauska a true four-pitch mix with starter upside. He moves up to the #17 spot in this update.
+ 2026 RHP Grant Sunstrom (University Lab HS)
The 6'5" right-hander goes from being unranked all the way to the #25 spot in this update. A smooth mover down the slope with a clean arm path, Sunstrom releases the ball from a somewhat lower 3/4 slot and hides the ball well, which makes for an uncomfortable at-bat, epsecially against RHH's. At this summer's Future Games, his FB sat 82-85 mph and was heavy at times with arm-side sink and he tunneled a low-70's SL well off of it. The U-High product ended up tossing two no-hit IP with 2 K's against Arkansas.
