Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2025 State Rankings Update (Risers)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2025 class, now that the summer season has come to an end.  Throughout the summer, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before.  Our state rankings for the 2025 class expanded to 315 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list.  Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2025 CLASS)

+ 2025 LHP Hayden Pearson (Ascension Episcopal HS)

6'0" 190 lbs. durable frame; Pearson moves up fourteen spots in this update to #17 overall, after an impressive showing this summer at our Top Prospect Games.  The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit closed out Game 1 of the event in impressive fashion collecting 2 K's.  Working exclusively from the stretch, Pearson bullied opposing hitters with a 89-92 mph heater that had late-life through the zone with an IVB up to 20.3".  His 75-76 mph SL flashed "2-8" shape and is still a work in progress, as is his 81-82 mph CH.  We could see Pearson really thriving when he arrives on Louisiana-Lafeytte's campus next August, especially under the tutelage of pitching coach Gunner Leger, who is one of the best young pitching coaches in all of college baseball.

+ 2025 RHP Kade LaCoste (Pope John Paul II HS)

Another guy who made a big impression at our Top Prospect Games event this past summer was LaCoste.  A smooth mover down the mound with a clean arm stroke; LaCoste attacked hitters with a 88-91 mph FB that had life through the zone with spin rates up to 2409 RPM's.  He tunneled a 77-78 mph SL with sweep off of his FB that made for a difficult at-bat, and also showed feel for a 77-80 mph CH.  Not too long after our Top Prospect Games, LaCoste announced his commitment to the eight-time National Champion LSU-Eunice Bengals.  He moves up thirteen spots in this update to #34 overall.

+ 2025 RHP Adam Brodnax (Buckeye HS)

6'2" 180 lbs. long and lean frame with room to continue to add strength.  Brodnax entered the summer as a relatively unkown name, but he certainly made a name for himself after our Top Prospect Games event.  The first thing that stands out is his long and lean 6'2" 180 lbs. that projects to add a lot more strength.  The Buckeye product starts in the middle of the rubber, before shifting to the 1B side throughout a controlled and repeatable delivery, and he uses a long & loose arm stroke to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  He attacks hitters with a 88-90 mph FB that flashed ride & run through the zone and is confident in landing a late-fading 75-76 mph CH for strikes.  His 73-75 mph SL is a developing third pitch that has the potential to be another above average offering.  Brodnax moves up eighty-one spots in this update to #35 overall in the state.

+ 2025 RHP Braden Mouton (Central Catholic HS)

Mouton had arguably the top pitching performance at this summer's Top Prospect Games, and that's saying something, because this year's event was the most loaded that it's ever been on the mound.  The Central Catholic product works through a controlled delivery off the 1B side of the rubber, before using a quick & compact arm stroke to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  Mouton aggressively attacks hitters with a 88-90 mph FB and can locate it to all quadrants.  His 75-78 mph SL tunnels well off of his heater and he uses it as a swing & miss offering with late bite down in the zone.  The recent Jones College commit jumps up 113 spots to #44 overall in the state.

+ 2025 RHP Zeke Wall (Iota HS)

Wall was the Bulldogs #1 arm last spring and was dominant, as he finished with a 7-1 record and 0.96 ERA.  Our first up-close look at him was at our New Orleans Summer ID last month, and it was a really good one.  A smooth mover down the slope with a loose and whippy arm action, Wall showed the ability to land a four-seamer to his glove-side and a two-seamer to his arm-side.  His FB sat 85-87 mph with good life through the zone and spin rates up to 2484 RPM's.  Wall's feel for spin, however, it was really stood out to us this summer, as he showed the ability to land to distinct breaking balls (CB & SL) with well above average spin rates up to 2998 RPM's.  That's not even mentioning his late-fading 73-74 mph CH, which completes his four-pitch mix.  Wall committed to Bossier Parish Community College earlier this month and goes from being unranked to #62 overall in the state's 2025 class.
