Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2025 State Rankings Update (November 2024)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2024 fall season has come to an end, which means it's almost time for the 2025 LHSAA spring season to kick-off, and it's also time for an update to our state rankings.  This fall, our staff was able to get out to see more than 250 players in total, across our five fall events.  Today, we start a month long stretch of state rankings updates, and we begin with the 2025 class.  We've expanded the list to 330 prospects and although there wasn't a lot of movement at the top, there were still plenty of risers throughout the entire group.  Below, we give a snapshot of the Top 10, dive into the Top 5, and list out the top uncommitted players for this class.  Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, as we continue to provide more content and coverage on our state rankings update.

TOP 5 (DEEP DIVE)

+ 2025 OF William Patrick (St. Frederick HS)

Patrick finished his junior campaign hitting at a .450 clip and drew an eye-popping 44 BB's.  He carried that momentum over into the summer circuit, hitting at the top of the order for the 17U BPA National Group, which was widely regarded as one of the top 17U teams this summer.  The athleticism stands out for the LSU recuit with a 6'2" 200 lbs. frame, and he's got a plethora of tools in his "tool box" to choose from to impact a game, which is why there will likely be a lot of eyes on him heading into the spring of his senior year.

+ 2025 SS Jack Ruckert (Catholic BR HS)

Against the toughest schedule in the state, Ruckert finished his junior spring with a .452 AVG, to go along with 5 HR, 15 2B, 2 3B, 40 RBI, 40 R, and 22 SB, on route to helping lead Catholic (BR) to another LHSAA Select D-I State Title.  The summer reports on Ruckert would positive as well, as he continued to swing a hot stick at some of the top summer natinoal events, which included East Coast Pro.  The LSU recuit will likely be relied upon even more this coming spring for the Bears with the departures of several key seniors, and we fully expect Ruckert to continue to perform at a high level.

Courville battled through a couple of nagging injuries last spring, as he finished with only 40 at-bats, but ended up hitting at a .400 clip with 4 2B, 1 3B, and 12 RBI, while only striking out one time.  The Texas recruit entered the summer healthy and had arguably his best summer to date, as he earned the starting catching duties and hit in the leadoff spot on a loaded Canes National 17U squad.  He's a premium defender behind the dish and one of the more athletic backstops in his class, and with his bat continuing to improve, along with adding more physicality this fall, all signs are pointing up for Courville, as he heads into his senior season.

+ 2025 RHP/SS Marshall Louque (Lutcher HS)

Louque was one of the standout performers from the 2024 LHSAA State Tournament, as he lead the Bulldogs to their second state title in the last three seasons.  The former Future Gamer and LSU recruit had a monster summer at the plate for the Knights Knation 17U Scout group, as he finished hitting .436 with 4 HR, 13 2B, and 24 RBI across 96 PA's.  He was also stellar on the mound, logging a 1.29 ERA across 21 1/3 IP with 20 K to only 3 BB.

+ 2025 OF Christian Turner (Haughton HS)

Turner had a meteoric rise up the rankings last year, and moves up a few more spots in this update to #5 overall.  The Arkansas recruit had a big-time summer playing for the 17U Sticks Brewster/White Sox Scout Team, especially at our coveted National Program Invitational event back in June.  It's a really simple swing from the left-side with good rhythm and his barrel gets in the zone early and stays through the zone a long time.  Turner also posted plus run times out of the box, which only helps his cause even more, as we move into the fall and spring season.
