PBR Louisiana State Rankings Update: 2025 Class (November 2023)

The fall season has come to an end for high school baseball prospects across the country, which means it's time for an update to our state rankings.  We spent the fall evaluating prospects at our events, and we also kept close tabs on their performances for their respective travel teams.  Today, we continue to update our state rankings and this week, we focus on the 2025 class.  There was definitely some movement within this update, as we crown a new #1 overall player, as well as welcome one newcomer to the Top 10.  We've also expanded our list to 225 prospects and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list.  Below, we dive into the Top 10 players and we'll be releasing additional content, throughout the week, on this post-fall state rankings update for the 2025 class.

TOP 10 (DEEP DIVE)

#1 2025 OF William Patrick (St. Frederick HS)

Patrick's rise to the top of the state's 2025 class has been well documented by our staff, and in this rankings update, he takes over the top overall spot.  The St. Frederick HS product capped off the summer with a bang, at the Future Games, where he was arguably the best player at the event.  Patrick went 3-4 at the plate with a HR, 3B, 5 RBI, 3 SB, and 4 BB.  For his performance, he came out of the Future Games with many potential college suitors, and recently announced his commitment to Coach Jay Johnson and the defending National Champion LSU Tigers.  The 6'2" 190 lbs. broad-shouldered and athletic outfielder has a rare combination of power and speed (6.42 laser-timed 60), and has the ability to stick in centerfield, which should make him awfully appealing to MLB scouts next spring.

#2 2025 RHP/INF Marshall Louque (Lutcher HS)

6'3" 175 lbs. projectable frame with room to continue to add strength.  The Lutcher HS product has been a household name in the state's 2025 class, ever since he stepped foot on campus.  Louque had another successful summer and fall campaign, where he continued to put up quality outings on the mound, thanks to a 88-90 mph FB, to go along with a mid-70's CB, as well as feel for a low-80's CH to both RHH's and LHH's.  The Bulldogs were the #1 seed last spring and were upset in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.  We fully expect Louque to lead a talented Lutcher squad again this spring, as they look to make a return trip to the state tournament.

#3 2025 C Presley Courville (Barbe HS)

A two-time former Future Gamer; the 5'11" 170 lbs. backstop has been the Bucs starting catcher, each of the last two seasons, and will once again be the man behind the dish, in his junior campaign.  The Texas A&M recruit had a strong summer for the Canes National group, where he continued to show high-level defensive abilities and supreme athleticism for a catcher.  Reports out of the Barbe camp have been really good on Courville this fall, as he's started to pack on more strength.  This will surely lead to him driving more balls, which will make him even more dangerous at plate, as he already posseses really good bat to ball skills.

#4 2025 RHP Sawyer Pruitt (Live Oak HS)

It's crazy to sit back and look at the progression of the 6'5" 215 lbs. right-handed hurler over the past 12 months.  Just one year ago, Pruitt was finishing up his sophomore football season, where he was the Eagles starting quarterback.  Fast-forward to today, and he's since given up playing football to focus 100% of his time on the mound, and it seems to be paying off.  Reports out of Live Oak have been really good on the Ole Miss recruit, as he's tacked on more weight, which has in turn, increased his FB velocity up to 92-93 mph.  That's exciting news for Pruitt and the Eagles, as he'll be their #1 again this coming spring.

#5 2025 INF Jack Ruckert (Catholic BR HS)

Ruckert enjoyed a really good summer, playing for USA Prime National, and he saved one of his best performances for our National Program Invitational at Lakepoint.  The LSU recruit was seemingly on the barrel all week long at NPI, as he drove balls from gap to gap, while creating effortless loft.  We had the chance to see him at our annual State Games this fall, at LSU, where he blistered a pull-side triple in Game 4 on Sunday, and took home Player of the Game honors.  He should once again man the shortstop position for the Bears this spring, as they look to avenge their semifinal upset loss to Rummel.  

#6 2025 OF Noah Lewis (Catholic BR HS)

6'2" 185 lbs. and built like a defensive back.  We've been high on Lewis for a while now, and he continued to trend up this fall, which is why he moves up a couple of more spots to #6 overall.  At this summer's Future Games, the Catholic BR HS product showed elite speed (6.35 laser-timed 60) and good bat to ball skills, as he finished the event going 2-6 at the plate with 0 K's.  We got to see Lewis again this fall, at our State Games event, and he looked even more comfortable in the box, thanks to standing a bit more upright in his stance, which allowed his athleticism to really play through his swing.  The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit took some really competitive at-bats at the State Games, which included an opposite field RBI double.  He should be a catalyst, at the top of the Bears order this spring, as they look to make a run at another state title.

#7 2025 RHP Bryce Robinson (St. Augustine HS)

It's been really good to see the St. Augustine HS product healthy and back on the mound this summer and through the fall.  Robinson offers immense upside on the mound, thanks to a loose and lively arm action, to go along with a 6'3" 170 lbs. frame that screams projection.  He routinely sits 87-90 mph with his FB, getting up to 91 mph, with good ride and life through the zone.  The Tulane recruit also offers upside as a position player prospect, as he's a really good runner (6.72 laser-timed 60) with solid bat to ball skills and clean defensive actions. 

#8 2025 C Cooper Smith (Live Oak HS)

5'10" 185 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half.  Smith unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury this fall, playing linebacker for the Eagles, but he's already went through a successful surgery, and is on the road back to making a full recovery.  Only time will tell if he'll suit up behind the plate this spring, but it does look like he will hit, which is really good news for the Eagles.  The Louisiana Tech recruit is one of the top left-handed hitters in the class and offers some of the best pull-side power as well. 

#9 2025 INF Casey McCoy (Dutchtown)

The former Future Games standout has been hauling in touchdown passes for the Griffins this fall, as Dutchtown advanced to the state semifinals last Friday night, and are now one win away from playing for a state title.  McCoy briefly left his football duties, to join us at this fall's State Games, and he continued to perform at a high-level, as he collected three hits on the weekend.  The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit checks in at #9 in this state rankings update.

#10 2025 OF Christian Turner (Haughton HS)

6'0" 175 lbs. lean and athletic frame.  Turner is another guy who's been dialed in on the gridiron this fall, serving as the Bucs "QB1".  The Haughton HS product rose into the Top 20 of our last rankings update, after a big summer, and after a successful fall campaign, he now moves into the Top 10.  Turner is a really good athlete with a simple and repeatable swing from the left-side with sneaky pull-side power.  He attended a University of Arkansas camp this fall and had a really good showing, which led him to being offered by and eventually committing to the Razorbacks.
