North Louisiana Summer ID: Quick Hits

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Ruston, LA - Our second Open ID event of the summer was held this past Tuesday June 4, 2024 at Louisiana Tech University with our North Louisiana Summer ID.  This event consisted of high school prospects in the 2025-2027 classes.  Today, we continue our post-event coverage of the event with another edition of Quick Hits, which focuses on some of the prospects that caught our eye.  Be sure to follow us, on all of our social media platforms, for continued coverage of the 2024 North Louisiana Summer ID!

+ 2025 RHP Tanner Webb (Benton HS)

6'3" 235 lbs. physical and durable frame.  Webb had a successful spring for the Tigers, as he went 6-3 with 1 save and a 1.65 ERA, and it was easy to see why he did so well on Tuesday.  Working off the 1B side of the rubber, Webb uses a gradual build-up in his delivery before getting down the slope with intent, and he uses a loose and full arm circle to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  His FB sat 86-88 mph with some life through the zone and spin rates up to 2463 RPM's.  His feel for both his CB & SL looked much improved with each sitting 76-78 mph with spin rates up to 2623 RPM's.  Add in a firmer 79-81 mph CH with some arm-side sink & run, and Webb has a bonafied four-pitch mix.  He's a really good uncommitted arm in the state's 2025 class for coaches to see at next week's Top Prospect Games.

+ 2025 RHP Judson Funderburk (Calvary Baptist HS)

6'1" 170 lbs. frame.  Funderburk had a solid spring for the Cavaliers, as the team's #2 behind 2024 Landon Fontenot, and will be relied upon even more next spring with the departure of the Louisiana Tech recruit.  The uncommitted right-hander had a solid pen on Tuesday and what stood out to us was his commmand of all three pitches.  Funderburk was able to locate his 84-86 mph FB to both sides of the plate, while mixing in a short/tight "11-5" shaped 74-76 mph CB and a 78-79 mph CH for strikes.

+ 2026 INF Hudson Wood (Ruston HS)

Athletic 6'0" 175 lbs. frame with lean strength throughout and room to tack on more physicality.  The Ruston product caught our eye a couple of weeks ago at Team Louisiana's Scout Day and he followed up a good showing there with another good performance on Tuesday.  Wood works from a wider base and gets his front foot down early, before using an aggressive lower-half turn to deliver a heavy barrel that produced hard gap-to-gap contact with a max exit velocity of 91.8 mph.

+ 2027 OF John Parker Moak (Ruston HS)

Wood wasn't the only Ruston product to make some noise on Tuesday.  Moak, an uncommitted 2027 prospect, took one of the better BP rounds of the day on Tuesday at Louisiana Tech.  He uses a simple set-up with minimal movements, which allows him to repeat his swing well.  Moak gets his barrel on-plane early and uses quick hands (22.8 mph max hand speed) to spray line drives to all fields.

+ 2027 C/RHP JonBrayden Clack (West Monroe HS)

Durable 5'10" 180 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half.  Clack was one of the more intriguing two-way prospects at Tuesday's event at Louisiana Tech, and looks to be a guy that can help the Rebels next season.  At the plate, he uses loose hands to whip the barrel through the zone working mostly middle to pull-side with a 90.8 mph max exit velocity.  On the mound, he sat 80-81 mph with his FB, but it was his feel for spin that stood out, as he was able to rip off low-70's CB's with advanced spin rates up to 2733 RPM's.
