New Orleans, LA - On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff will travel to Tulane University, to host our last event of the summer with our New Orleans Summer ID.  This year's event will feature over 70 prospects from the 2025-2028 classes.  Each participant will go through a pro-style workout that will consist of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, defensive evaluations, batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion, and pitchers will finish the event off by throwing bullpens with Trackman Baseball.  Below, we take a look at the history of this event and some players that we're looking forward to seeing tomorrow.  

 

EVENT HISTORY

Last summer's New Orleans Summer ID was a smaller event, due to us having to reschedule from a prior date, but it still ended up producing two prospects that were selected to be a part of our 2023 Future Games team.  2025 OF/INF Ryan Darrah (Brother Martin HS) had a really good showing last year, as he ran a 6.85 laser-timed 60 yard dash, while also taking a quality round of BP.  2025 LHP Bryce Wilson (Chalmette HS) tossed arguably the best bullpen at last year's event, as he effortlessly located a mid-80's FB, while also showing feel to land all of his secondary offerings for strikes.

2024 New Orleans Summer ID Roster

There's a handful of players headed to New Orleans tomorrow who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as a couple of new faces.  Let's check out a couple of those players below.

 

Uncommitted 2025 Prospects

+ 2025 INF Ryder Planchard (Holy Cross HS)

5'11" 165 lbs. lean frame with a ton of room to add strength.  Planchard is a confident, steady, and reliable defender on the dirt with crisp actions.  It's a simple set-up at the box and he works through the middle of the field on a line.  He's also a high academic prospect with a 4.50 GPA and 28 ACT.

+ 2025 INF Mason Hickman (Mandeville HS)

The uncommitted senior infielder had a monster spring helping lead the Skippers all the way to the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA Non-Select D-I playoffs.  Hickman hit at a .420 clip with 2 HR, 14 2B, 4 3B, 18 RBI, and 37 R.  He also swiped 26 bases and only struck out 9 times in 133 plate appearances.
