New Orleans Rising Stars ID: Preview Story
February 7, 2024
Metairie, LA - On Sunday, February 11, 2024, our staff will be traveling to Metairie, LA to host our New Orleans Rising Stars ID at Mike Miley Stadium. This event will host over 40 up and coming prospects, in the 2028 and 2029 classes, from across different parts of the state, and will serve as an identifier for our Junior Future Games team.
EVENT HISTORY
Last year, our New Orleans Rising Stars ID was originally scheduled for February 12, 2023, at Mike Miley Stadium, but was unfortunately cancelled due to inclement weather. We ended up re-scheduling the event for later in April at Mandeville High School, and it ended up being a fantastic event, as we were able to identify several prospects who ended up earning spots on our Junior Future Games team last summer. Prospects such as 2027 Brooks Bumstead (Dutchtown HS), 2027 Clayton Fontenot (St. Michael's HS), and 2027 Lane Billings (Live Oak HS) caught our attention, and all three are now excelling at their respective high schools.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SUNDAY
There will be familiar faces this weekend who continue to show well, as well as newcomers who make their mark and burst onto the scene. Below, we highlight a few players that we're looking forward to seeing on Sunday.
+ 2028 Cole Albert (Vermilion Catholic HS)
6'1" 140 lbs. frame with long limbs and plenty of projection. Albert was a standout performer, on the mound, for last summer's 13U Jr. Future Games Championship team. As of last summer, his FB ranged in the mid-70's, topping out at 77 mph and he was able to land both of his secondary offerings for strikes. With a loose and easy arm action, it's easy to dream on Albert's upside and we're excited to see the jumps that he's made over the last 6 months.

Was brilliant for the 13U #BootBoys in the semis earning the win, as they advance to the finals of the 13U #PBRJFG23. Loose & easy arm action with a low 3/4 release. Mixed speeds well. #BeSeen #PBRJFG23

+ 2028 Jaxon Hanks (Hahnville HS)
Athletic 5'10" 160 lbs. with a strong lower-half. The future Hahnville product was a standout hitter on last summer's 13U Jr. Future Games Championship team. From an upright stance, Hanks uses strong wrists and forearms to impact the baseball out front with a gap to gap approach. He's another guy that we're looking forward to seeing this Sunday.
+ 2028 Zachary Ray Jr. (Doyle HS)
Ray Jr. was one of the unsung heroes of last summer's 13U Jr. Future Games Championship team. The future Doyle product collected big hit after big hit last summer during the tournament. He's also a solid catch and throw guy behind the plate with pop times as low as 2.04 and a positional velocity of 68 mph.
