Metairie, LA - On Saturday, January 6, 2024, the PBR Louisiana staff will travel to Mike Miley Stadium to host the New Orleans Preaseason ID.  This event is our first event of the new year and is set to host over 40 players that includes some familiar names and fresh faces that we're excited to see.

 

EVENT HISTORY

Last January, we held our Preseason ID, in the southeastern part of the state, at the Hammond Sportsplex in Hammond, LA.  That event helped us identify prospects that had made significant jumps in their development, as well as new prospects, ahead of the 2023 spring high school baseball season.  Prospects such as 2024 OF/RHP Corey Cousin (Slidell HS) made a big impression, as he blazed a 6.69 60 and showed a big arm from the oufield up to 91 mph.  Cousin kept that momentum going through the spring and summer, which led to his commitment to the University of Oklahoma.  2024 Quinn Smith (Lutcher HS) attended last year's event as well, and made the most of his first opportunity in front of our staff.  The 6'4" right-handed hurler showed big time arm-talent with a FB up to 91 mph.  After a successful spring season, he announced his commitment to Southeastern Louisiana University.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SATURDAY

There's a handful of players headed to Mike Miley on Saturday who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as some new faces.  Let's check out a couple of those players below.

 

+ 2025 MIF Ryder Planchard (Holy Cross HS)

Athletic and wiry 5'10" 155 lbs. frame.  The Holy Cross product attended alst year's event in Hammond, LA, where he walked away as one of the top infielders in attendance.  Planchard is a sure-handed defender with soft hands and crisp actions to go along with an accurate arm across the diamond.  Offensively, it's a simple and repeatbale stroke with a flat path and level extension.  We're interested to see some of the off-season gains that he's made.  

+ 2024 OF Brent Miorana (Brother Martin HS)

5'9" 175 lbs. frame with present lower-half strength.  The Brother Martin HS product is currently one of the top uncomitted senior outfielders in the state.  Miorana is a good overall athlete who posted a 7.09 laser-timed 60 the last time that we saw him.  At the plate, he flashed quick hands with present bat speed that led to a max exit velocity of 96.6 mph.
