Louisiana Commitment Insider: 2025 Andrew Clapinski

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2024 Catholic BR baseball team had big goals heading into the 2024 season.  The Bears set out to not only win a State Title, but to also go down as one of the best teams in program history, which they were able to do.  Head Coach Brad Bass and company finished the 2024 season with a 38-2 overall record and won not only the State Title, but were also recently crowned National Champions.  A team's success isn't defined by one player, but if you ask anyone who saw Catholic BR play this year, then they would tell you that 2025 C Andrew Clapinski was a big part of the team's historic run this spring.  Clapinski hit at a .396 clip and led the team in HR's with 6 and RBI's with 45.  We've been able to track "Clap" over the last three years and he's been a steady and consistent performer from day one.  Entering this summer, he was one of the top uncommitted prospects in Louisiana's 2025 class, and we had a feeling that he wouldn't be uncommitted for long.  After another stellar performance at last week's Top Prospect Games, Clapinski announced his commitment to the 2024 NJCAA Division II National Champions in LSU-Eunice.  We had the chance to speak with Clapinski about his commitment to the Bengals, his experience at our events over the last three years, and much more.  Congratulations again to Andrew Clapinski on his commitment to the LSU-Eunice!

1. Congratulations on your commitment to LSU-Eunice!  What led to your decision to commit to the Bengals?

"My family and I felt like it was the right decision because of the program that Coach Willis and company have created there."

2. Is there anyone in particular that you'd like to thank for helping you get to this point in your career?

"I would like to thank my parents as well as my coaches for always pushing me to become the best version of myself."

3. You've been to several of our events, over the last three years, with our State Games and most recently, our Top Prospect Games.  What do you think about your experiences from our events?

"I think Prep Baseball Louisiana does a great job with their showcases and tournaments.  It is always very organized and seems to attract many college coaches."

4. What advice would you give to young, aspiring baseball players, as they enter high school and the recruiting process begins for them?

"I would encourage them to be patient.  Your time will come, and we are always on God's time.  Make your decision based on your personal needs, rather than trying to fit in or impress other people.  Choose the place that you fit in the best."

5. For LSU-Eunice fans, who may not be familiar with you, how would you describe yourself as a player?

"I would describe myself as an old school player.  I play the game hard and the right way.  I pride myself on being a great person and teammate, to go along with my ability on the field."

6. Are there any areas of your game that you've been focusing on this summer?

"This spring/summer, I have really tried to improve my game behind the plate.  It helped that I was able to catch such a great staff during the high school season and now the summer season."

7. What can high school baseball fans expect out of Catholic BR next year, coming off a historical season, that ended with you guys being crowned National Champions?

"Fans can expect to see a very similar style of play and throw down mentality.  We have plenty of guys chomping at the bit to fill the shoes of our graduating seniors.  I expect a hungry team that will look to repeat as State Champions and potentially National Champions.  I would not expect a whole lot of drop-off next season."
