Lake Charles Preseason ID: Preview Story
January 18, 2024
Moss Bluff, LA - On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the PBR Louisiana staff will travel to Sam Houston High School, in Moss Bluff, LA, to host the Lake Charles Preaseason ID. This will be our third event of the new year and is set to host over 30 players, which includes some familiar names and fresh faces that we're excited to see.
EVENT HISTORY
Last January, we held our Lake Charles Preseason ID at the same exact place that this year's event will be held, at Sam Houston High School, home of the Sam Houston Broncos. That event helped us identify prospects that had made significant jumps in their development, as well as new prospects, ahead of the 2023 spring high school baseball season. There ended up being two prospects, from last year's Lake Charles Preseason ID, who ended up being selected to be members of our Future Games team last summer. 2025 LHP/OF Cole Flanagan (Sam Houston HS) impressed us with his pull-side power and control of all of his pitches on the mound. Flanagan announced his commitment to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette this past fall. 2025 C Connor Walker (Sam Houston HS) continued to show that he's one of the best defensive catchers in the state, while also showing an improved offensive approach, which carried over into the summer and fall.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SATURDAY
There's a handful of players headed to Moss Bluff, LA on Sunday who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as some new faces. Let's check out a couple of those players below.
+ 2025 INF Jackson Beddoe (Sulphur HS)
5'11" 175 lbs. frame. The Sulphur product and former Future Gamer showed increased strength in our last look at him in December, so we're excited to see if he's made even more jumps and strides on Sunday. Beddoe takes a direct approach to contact, dropping the barrel head straight to the ball, while staying gap to gap in his approach. Defensively, he's got crisp actions and has plenty of arm to stay on the left side of the infield.
+ 2025 INF/RHP Brecken Bordelon (St. Louis Catholic HS)
Lean and wiry 6'0" 155 lbs. frame. Bordelon has steadily shown improvements with each look that we've had at him, including our State Games event this past fall. The St. Louis Catholic product notched a couple of hits during gameplay at the State Games with his best being a pull-side double into the LCF gap. On the mound, he also showed intrigue with a FB up to 84 mph and really good feel for a sharp "11-5" shaped CB with spin rates that averaged 2732 RPM's.
