Yesterday, the Prep Baseball Report named 2017 OF Jacob Pearson (West Monroe) Player Of The Week, for the week of February 28th through March 7th. The Louisiana State recruit went 7 for 11 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, and 4 stolen bases as West Monroe went 4-0 on the weekend.
Although Pearson took away the honor for the second week, our inbox was flooded with several worthy nominees from high school coaches around the state. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who put up impressive numbers last week:

Week 2
Blayne Enlow, RHP, St. Amant, 2017
A Louisiana State recruit, Enlow tossed a 7 inning shut out, allowing only 3 hits, while striking out 11 and surrendering 1 walk.
Jonathan Fincher, LHP, Byrd, 2017
A Louisiana Tech recruit, Fincher picked up a win against Parkview Baptist, going 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7. Fincher is chasing the Byrd Varsity Career Strikeout record of 192, he is at 168 right now and has 13 strikouts in 14 innings so far this year.
Griffith Olinde, IF, Claiborne Christian, 2017
A Louisiana Tech recruit, Olinde went 5 for 8 with 2 home runs, 5 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and 2 walks in week 2 play.
Corbin McEntire, UTL, Hamilton Christian, 2019
McEntire pitched a complete game, only allowing 4 hits and tallied 14 strikeouts Saturday to lead the Warriors to a 7-2 victory over Gueydan. McEntire also went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 3 RBI on the weekend.
Chris Haggard, UTL, Sam Houston, 2017
A Centenary College recruit, Haggard went 8 for 21 on the week with 3 doubles and 5 RBI. He also earned a save and win on the mound, striking out 8 in Sam Houston’s win over Teurlings Catholic.
Cyle Clayton, RHP/IF, Holy Cross, 2017
A Nicolls State recruit, Clayton finished the week 7 for 10 with 1 double, 1 triple, 1 home run, and 5 RBI. In addition, Clayton struck out 2 batters in his first inning of work this year.
Preston Furqua, UTL, Grace Christian
Fuqua went 6 for 10 with 7 RBI on the week. Three of his RBI came in a 2-out situation with his team down one in the 7th inning. He has played a big role in Grace Christian’s 9-0 start to the season.
Jonathan Brandon, IF/RHP, Airline, 2017
Brandon has led the Vikings to five wins in their last six games, which includes a 5-4 victory over Barbe. Offensively, Brandon finished the week 8-for-17 (.471) which includes 1 homerun, 1 triple, 2 doubles, 4 RBI, and 6 runs scored. Additionally, Brandon was the winning pitcher against Barbe, entering the game in 7th with the bases loaded and two out; he struckout the only batter he faced on a 3-2 pitch, holding the Vikings deficit to just 4-3, which ultimately allowed for the 5-4 walkoff victory in the bottom of the 7th. He also finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in the contest.
Kobe Cazes, RHP/IF, Chalmette, 2017
Cazes went 2-0 on the week with 9 innings of work, 12 strikeouts, while only allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Cazes also went 6-for-19 AB with 5 RBI and 6 runs scored.
Dawson Hutchinson, UTL, Holden, 2017
Hutchinson hit .375 on the week with 3 RBI, as well as, 7 innings pitched, allowing only 1 hit, and striking out 10.
