Over the weekend Prep Baseball Report Louisiana spent time at games all across the state. Every week we will do a short, weekly roundup of prospects seen, as well as noteworthy performances that have been sent in to us.
2017 SS Nick Ray (Jesuit HS) has been off to an outstanding start thus far. A physical and athletic 6-foot-2, Ray shows premium athleticism at times, and has made a significant jump offensively. He hits from a tall, athletic setup with a short, level path and bat speed.
2017 RHP Joseph Bulovas (Mandeville HS) sat 84-87 mph with quality angle to his fastball and threw a quality number of strikes. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with spin and depth at 72-73 mph. A 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander with a strong, athletic frame Bulovas is certainly one to keep an eye on this spring.
6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher Mason Mayfield (Jesuit HS, 2016) showed advanced strike throwing ability with a low to mid-80s fastball. He had a solid 7 innings of work against Hahnville in which he only surrendered 2 runs.
Hahnville HS SS/RHP Waylon Leblanc, who faced off against Mayfield, was also impressive showing strike throwing ability. Leblanc showed a low-80s fastball with command and added a tight spinning slider.
Hahnville LHP Austin Perrin went 6 innings with 10 strikeouts and 1 earned run in an 8-1 win over Shaw HS.
Brock Batty, 2017 LHP Denham Springs HS, went 6 innings with 12 strikeouts in a win over Neville HS. Also went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI.
Trey Morgan went complete game against South Beauregard in a 2-1 win, striking out 12 and only giving up 3 hits. Also went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles.
Logan Stevens, Northlake Christian (2018) went complete game shutout 7-0 victory against Delhi with 11 strikeouts and only allowed 3 hits. He also went 9-for-15 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
Jacob Siegel, Denham Springs HS, went 5-for-13 with 5 RBI.
Dean Alexander, LHP Thomas Jefferson HS, threw a 4-hit shutout as he struck out 13 in a 1-0 win.
Brett Fiasckerly, Thomas Jefferson HS, pitched 5 innings with only 1 earned run. He went 4-for-9 with a 2B, 3B and 4 RBI.
Dayton Guercio, Central(BR) HS, went 7 innings striking out 7 only giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run in a 3-2 win over Holy Cross.
