2023 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

The Louisiana High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

 

 

WEEK 5 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

 

2024 RHP Sidney loughlin (episcopal of acadiana)

 

Week 4 Stats

-Record: 2-0

-Innings Pitched: 8 1/3

-Earned Runs: 0

-Hits: 0

-Strikeouts: 21

-Walks: 2

 

The uncommitted junior right-hander did a little bit of everything for Episcopal of Acadiana, as they went 3-1 in Week 5.  On the mound, however, is where Loughlin really shined for the Falcons.  On Tuesday, 03/21/23, he tossed a 6 inning no-hitter against Hathaway with only 1 BB and 17 K's.  Loughlin then came out of the bullpen on Saturday against Westminster Christian to earn his second win of the week, after tossing another 2 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball, giving up only 1 BB with 4 K's.  In total, Loughlin went 2-0 for the week over 8 1/3 IP, giving up 0 H and 0 ER with 2 BB and 21 K's.  He also helped his caused at the plate, by going 6-10 (.600) with 3 2B's, 3 R, and 3 RBI's.
