Name: Kelsey Ockman
School/Team: Mandeville HS/Louisiana Elite
Position: RHP
The Scouting Report:
A 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-hander from Mandeville, LA. Medium, athletic frame with some present strength. Compact arm action out of a high-3/4 release with explosive lower half drive and quality arm strength. Some effort in the delivery with little angle and tilt. Fastball will sit 85-87 mph touching 88 with control and occasional life and sink. Breaking ball is inconsistent presently, but flashes a tight spinning 71-73 mph slider with depth and deception. Also shows a feel for straight changeup at 76-78 mph.
What his coach says:
Ockman has played with the Louisiana Elite program and Coach Jack Cressend during the past few summers and falls. The following is Coach Cressend’s thoughts when asked about Ockman: “Kelsey has really come on the last six months and has shown the ability to pitch at the next level. He really thrives in the late inning role, as it fits his personality. Kelsey is a very competitive kid who should only continue to get better.”
