On Sunday, October 18, more than 25 unsigned 2016 graduates from across the state of Louisiana participated in the Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase at Louisiana Baseball and Softball Academy in Harahan, LA.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at the top five overall prospects that were in attendance.
Top Overall Prospects
1.Connor Maginnis, RHP, Jesuit HS(2016)
A 6-foot, 183-pound right-handed pitcher with an athletic, strong frame. Loose arm action into high-3/4 release with lightning quick arm and some effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and lands square. Fastball sat 88-90 mph with heavy sink and command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape, sharp break and tight spin at 70-73 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 73-75 mph.
2.Cain Castille, C, Lafayette HS(2016)
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and a clean and easy transfer. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 77 mph and a pop time of 1.9 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from an athletic setup, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter that creates great extension and displays fluid rhythm with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Also posted a solid home to 1st time of 4.1 seconds.
3.Grant Schulz, INF, Holy Cross HS(2016)
A 6-foot, 175-pound infielder with an athletic, strong frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm that creates great extension and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 89 mph. Fast twitch athlete that posted a 4.1 home to 1st time.
4.CJ Estave, C, Franklinton HS(2016)
A 5-foot-9, 195-pound catcher with compact, strong frame. Quality defender with soft hands, quick footwork, and a quick, clean exchange. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 80 mph and a pop time of 1.93 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, creates solid extension and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Also posted a 4.7 home to 1st time.
5.Mike Romano, RHP/INF, Mandeville HS(2016)
A 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder with a medium, athletic frame. Loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm with level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 81-83 mph touching 85 with slight sink and was commanded well. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with sharp break, tight spin, solid depth and near fastball arm speed at 72-74 mph. Flashed a changeup with fastball arm speed and hard fade action at 74-76 mph. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, quick, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 80 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a tall setup with a slight bar in the load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Line-drive type hitter with a short path, stiff rhythm, and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph. Also posted a 4.18 home to 1st time.
5.Josh Schmidt, C, Jesuit HS(2016)
A 5-foot-9, 170-pound catcher with an average, strong frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork and a quick exchange. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws and plus arm strength that produced a positional velocity of 83 mph and a pop time of 1.97 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with slight bar in the load, short stride, leg kick, solid lower half and balance. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path, and solid bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 76 mph. Also posted a 4.5 home to 1st time.
