Top Prospect Games Statistical Analysis

The annual Top Prospect Games took place on Tuesday, July 14th at Northlake Christian School in Covington, LA. The invite only event saw 40 of the best prospects from across the state of Louisiana. 

We begin our instant analysis from Tuesday’s event with a look at some top statistical performers. We measured six separate categories and we’ll detail the leaders in each category below.

Tuesday’s 60-times were impressive, as 7 players turned in sub-7.00 times on a natural grass track. Leading the way was Codi Williams (St. Michaels) who turned in an event  best 6.68. Maddox Mandino (Glenbrook) was second on the leaderboard with a 6.70 with Kael Babin (East Ascension) and Hunter Porche (Vandebilt Catholic) rounding out the top 4 with identical 6.78 times. 

On the mound, the Underclass Trials saw 7 players flash a max velocity of 85 mph or better. Leading the way was Solomon Riley (Dunham, 2023) posting an 88 mph max velocity on Trackman. Ethan Menard (Notre Dame) was second on the leaderboard as he worked up to 87 mph on Tuesday. Hayden Harmon (Glenbrook), Baylor Leonard (Ascension Catholic) and Cameron Weiss (Slidell) were all up to 86 mph at the event. 

Tuesday's event also saw 15 players post an exit velocity of 90 or better during batting practice. There was a tie for top exit velocity as Ethan Menard (Notre Dame) and Ryan Albritton (Riverfield Academy) both registered 98 mph off the bat on Trackman.  Codi Williams (St. Michaels) and Ethan Mack (Jennings) both posted 97 mph exit velocities with Hunter Ponson (Parkview Baptist) and Mason Modica (Dunham) rounding out the top 5 at 96 mph. 

Defensively, Baylor Leonard (Ascension Catholic) posted an event best infield velocity. The athletic infielder posted a positional velocity of 90 mph across the infield. Hunter Ponson (Parkview Baptist) was second on the leaderboard at 89 mph followed by Ethan Menard (Notre Dame) and Cade Lyons (Doyle) who were both 88 mph across the diamond. 

In the outfield, Hunter Porche (Vandebilt Catholic) lead the way with a 94 mph positional velocity from right field. Cade Lyons (Doyle) was just behind him at 93 mph with Maddox Mandino (Glenbrook) rounding out the top 3 with an outfield velocity of 90 mph. 

Behind the dish, Ethan Menard (Notre Dame) showed off his impressive arm strength as he posted a positional velocity of 82 mph. Hayden Harmon (Glenbrook) and Evan Rohlfs (French Settlement) also stood out with positional velocities of 76 mph from behind the dish. 

The top catcher pop time belongs to Evan Rohlfs (French Settlement) who posted an event best 1.90 pop time. Ethan Menard (Notre Dame) and Britt Jordan (West Monroe) both turned in pop times of 1.97 at Tuesday’s event.
