Top Prospect Games: Outfield Analysis

The Top Prospect Games took place over the summer at Northlake Christian School. The event hosted several of the top players from around the state in a pro style workout including defensive positional workouts, batting practice and 60-yard dash. The event finished up with a game where our staff was able to take in live competitive action. To wrap up event coverage, we will release a position analysis of all in attendance continuing today with outfielders.
Top Prospect Games: Outfielders
Kael Babin OF / RHP / East Ascension , LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 60 / POS: 17
Smaller 5-foot-6 150 pound frame with room for added strength. Right handed hitting outfielder with an advanced run tool. Has gone as low as a 6.58 but turned in a 6.7 time on a slower, natural grass surface. Top of the order type hitter with advanced instincts. Hits from a wider base starting in a balanced position and using a rhythmic toe tap to start the swing. Flashed a short, compact swing with a flat path and average bat speed. Contact guy with a line-drive approach, posted an 87 mph exit velocity. Quality defender with quick first step. Athletic with fluid actions, clean exchanges. Medium arm swing with average arm speed from a high-3/4 release with average accuracy and carry on throws at 84 mph from the outfield. |
Justin Diggs RHP / OF / Northlake Christian, LA / 2021Solid 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame with a strong, muscular build and visible strength in lower half. Right-handed hitter hits from a wide base with uphill shoulder tilt. Uses a small lift and replace load to initiate a slightly rotational swing with solid bat speed and an uphill path for an exit velocity of 84 mph. Defensively, worked out in the outfield where he showed solid instincts by reading and attacking hops and developing actions. Handled the baseball with sure hands into a high-¾ slot at 76 mph from right field. Ran a 7.91 60-yard dash. |
Brennan Duhe SS / RHP / Lutcher, LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 88 / POS: 20
Athletic 5-foot-10, 163-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter has a relaxed, tall stance. Simple leg lift with a hang and hover stride. Will flash solid average bat speed with some looseness in hands, high finish after solid extension through contact. Turned in an exit velocity of 92 mph. On the infield, uses active feet to work through groundballs. Handles the baseball well with soft hands and clean exchange into a ¾ arm slot with average carry and accuracy at 87 mph. Also, worked out in the outfield with athletic actions, clean transfers and a ¾ release producing an 86 mph outfield velocity. Average runner, ran a 7.00 60-yard dash. |
Cade Lyons SS / RHP / Doyle, LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 21
Athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with present strength in build. Right-handed hitter that hits from a tall, slightly open stance using a short, quick stride step to get to even, landing balanced. Minimal lower half engagement with a small hand load into a slightly rotational swing with an uphill path with solid bat speed. Mostly pull side hitter with real strength at contact; turned in an exit velocity of 93 mph. Athletic defender in the outfield. Works through the baseball with active footwork, securing the baseball with clean exchanges into compact arm stroke and high-3/4 release producing an outfield positional velocity of 93 mph from right field. Also worked out on the infield where he flashed active feet with average actions and clean exchanges into a high-¾ slot with carry at 88 mph across the infield. Above average athlete, ran a 6.87 60-yard dash. |
Maddox Mandino OF / LHP / Glenbrook , LA / 2023Athletic 5-foot-9, 150 pound frame who ran a 6.70 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter with a slightly closed stance. Toe tap replacement with rotational hitter tendencies who showed above average feel to the pull side. Line drives to all fields with the lower half working well and a flat bath path through the zone. Produced an exit velocity of 89 mph Clean actions and exchanges while attacking the ball well in the outfield which lead to a positional velocity of 90 mph. |
Hunter Porche OF / 3B / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 10
Big, physical, athletic build; Porche has a good showing at the Underclass Trials and has since committed to LSU-Eunice to continue his baseball career. Aggressive defender with natural ability and instincts, showed athletic actions and big arm strength, posting a positional velocity of 94 mph. Right-handed hitter, hitting from a wide, balanced set-up, using a toe tap load with smooth rhythm. Flashed present pull side power in a slightly uphill stroke with quality bat speed in impressive round of batting practice. Premium athlete with big tools, ran a 6.78 second 60-yard dash. |
Codi Williams OF / OF / St. Michaels , LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 11
Rangy, athletic 5-foot-11 170-pound frame with projection. Left-handed hitter, hits from an upright, even stance with balance. Uses a toe tap load with solid rhythm, can look a little rigid at times but advanced athleticism takes over allowing the body to maintain quality positions. Flashes a fast twitch stroke with advanced bat speed producing an exit velocity of 97 mph. Defensively showed fluid, athletic actions with some polish, moves around well with clean exchanges into an average arm action and a high-3/4 release, producing a positional velocity of 85 mph. Athletic outfielder posted a 6.68 60-yard dash. |
Dalton Wilson OF / RHP / Catholic(BR), LA / 2022Rankings StateRank: 46 / POS: 15
Lean 6-foot-0, 160-pound frame. Left-handed hitter, hits from a balanced, slightly open stance using a simple stride step to start the swing. Maintains balance throughout flashing quality bat speed in a slightly uphill stroke with some pull side power potential. Posted an exit velocity of 90 mph with a heavy barrel. Defensively, shows athletic actions with efficient footwork and clean exchanges. Clean arm action into a high-¾ release posting a positional velocity of 87 mph from right field. Average runner, posted a 7.08 60-yard dash time.
