Top Prospect Games: Infield Analysis

The Top Prospect Games took place over the summer at Northlake Christian School. The event hosted several of the top players from around the state in a pro style workout including defensive positional workouts, batting practice and 60-yard dash. The event finished up with a game where our staff was able to take in live competitive action. To wrap up event coverage, we will release a position analysis of all in attendance continuing today with infielders.

Ryan Albritton 3B / 2B / Riverfield Academy, LA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 69 / POS: 4
Physical 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with present strength in build. Right-handed hitter hits from an upright position using a moderate leg kick to initiate the swing, lands strong with a solid lower half. Takes a physical pass with a little effort to the stroke, slightly uphill path with average bat speed and pull side power potential, posted a 98 mph exit velocity on TrackMan. Solid defender, profiles at a corner infield position with average actions. Feet work well showing solid range and the ability to play through ground balls at third base. Handled the baseball well with clean exchanges into a high-¾ release with solid carry at 83 mph. Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash. |
Cason Clemons SS / 2B / Glenbrook, LA / 2023Medium 5-foot-9, 148-pound maturing frame with room to add strength. Right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with hand high above the back shoulder. Starts the swing with a toe tap load landing in a solid hitting position. Flashes a developing swing with solid bat speed and strength at contact, posting an 84 mph exit velocity. Worked out at shortstop where he flashed average actions, developing footwork with clean ball handling skills. Medium arm action with a high-¾ release flashing 80 mph arm strength across the infield. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. |
Grant Comeaux 3B / 1B / Barbe , LA / 2022Projectable 6-foot-1, 185 pound frame with room to continue filling out. Right-handed hitter hits from a tall, open stance. Uses a small leg lift to gather and get back to even with body control and balance. The swing flashes average bat speed that’s well leveraged creating strength at contact, producing a 90 mph exit velocity. Defensively, worked out on the infield where he flashed solid actions. Plays low with average athleticism and footwork working through the baseball with soft hands and clean exchanges. Medium arm action with a high-¾ release at 78 mph across the infield. Profiles at a corner, likely third base. Ran a 7.28 60-yard dash. |
Eddie Dema SS / 2B / Pope John Paul II, LA / 2021Average 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with room to add strength. Right-handed hitter starts in a wider, balanced stance using a medium stride to start the swing. Flashed solid bat speed in a simple swing with a downhill to even path creating an exit velocity of 84 mph. Worked out on the infield where he showed active feet working high to low on ground balls. Plays through hops ok into a medium arm circle and a ¾ release with 74 mph arm strength across the infield. Solid athlete ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. |

Athletic 5-foot-10, 163-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter has a relaxed, tall stance. Simple leg lift with a hang and hover stride. Will flash solid average bat speed with some looseness in hands, high finish after solid extension through contact. Turned in an exit velocity of 92 mph. On the infield, uses active feet to work through ground balls. Handles the baseball well with soft hands and clean exchange into a ¾ arm slot with average carry and accuracy at 87 mph. Showed solid bat speed in a compact stroke with a slightly uphill, on plane path. Line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, posted an exit velocity of 86 mph on TrackMan. Defensively, showed active feet on the infield working through the baseball with average actions. Hands work well with softness and synced up with feet. Clean exchanges with a short compact arm action and a high-3/4 release at 78 mph across the infield. Profiles at 2B with a chance to play short as he adds strength.
