On Sunday, Feb. 7, Prep Baseball Report will host the 19th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 22 first-round picks and 25 second-rounders.

We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this week, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.

Scouting Report

11/7/20

Pearson, an LSU recruit, continued to show off his ability to turn the barrel from the left side, and also showcased a 5-foot-10, 195-pound frame that appears leaner and more athletic than in the past. He began the day with an impressive 6.5 60-yard dash time before getting off some big swings in batting practice that produced some mid 90s exit velocities. Pearson’s swings play up in-game, and he features present power to the pull side thanks to lightning-quick hands that allow him to strike the ball with impressive force. Some movement of the feet pre-pitch almost appear to present a more “raw approach”, and Pearson “just missed” sending a couple of balls high over the wall (they were each towering fly outs) in game play, but there is clearly some power present to the pull side. He moves adequately in the outfield, but also shifted to second base for some time, but the bat will ultimately be what helps him enter the lineup for the Tigers during his time in Baton Rouge.

At the plate, the left-handed hitter showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 95 mph. Begins in a strong athletic  stance with a big load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 79 mph; had smooth footwork, a clean exchange and sure hands. Showed a high ¾ slot with long arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.76.
