Updated Class Of 2019 Rankings

It’s been a busy four-plus months since the last update to the Class of 2019 rankings. Earlier this week we released the Updated Class Of 2019 Rankings. As we have worked our way through the summer and fall event schedule, more light was shed on this talented class, which created plenty of shakeup throughout the list.

In today’s Stock Watch, our scouting staff highlights a few prospects to watch in the near future from the updated list with full analysis and video.

Last week we began the process of dusting off and updating the Louisiana rankings with the class of 2018 rankings update, which you can view HERE. So, be sure to check-in regularly in the weeks and months to come, as there will plenty of updates and content to keep you busy over the holidays.

Let’s dive into this week’s Stock Watch, featuring 2019s from the updated Louisiana rankings:

Jacob Bernard OF / Lakeshore, LA / 2019

Currently ranked No. 12 in Louisiana's 2019 class, and No. 259 Overall. Athletic 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame, strong build with developed strength in wrists and forearms. Left-handed hitter that hits from athletic, stacked setup, leg-lift with quick tempo and smooth load. Gap-to-gap type approach with natural lift in path, present power to pull side, explosive lower half and advanced bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 93 mph. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through ball athletically. Mid-line gather into short, high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 79 mph.

Bailey Burtram OF / RHP / Ouachita Christian, LA / 2019

Athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame, lean build with room to add strength. Right-handed hitter hits from tall, athletic setup, working backwards with subtle leg lift, and loose rhythm landing balanced and on time. Line-drive approach with level swing path, early rhythm, and solid bat speed; produced an exit velocity of 91 mph. Outfielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges while playing through baseball athletically. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws; recording an outfield positional velocity of 83mph. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash.

Braden Duhon OF / SS / Sam Houston, LA / 2019

Currently ranked No. 23 in Louisiana's 2019 class. Lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame, athletic build with room to add strength. Displayed solid athleticism running a 6.8 60-yard dash. Solid defender, works through the ball athletically with average hands, smooth footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm stroke into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throw, producing a positional velocity of 84 mph. Left-handed hitter that works from a tall, open setup, leg kick and smooth load. Fluid, loose rhythm with slightly uphill path into the finish and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 78 mph.

Garrett Felix SS / 2B / Acadiana, LA / 2019

Currently ranked No. 36 in Louisiana's 2019 class. Strong 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame, athletic build, developed lower half. Displayed solid athleticism posting a 6.83 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced athletic setup with short, quick shift of weight loading, and short stride. Line drive type approach with simple, compact path and bat speed produced an exit velocity of 86 mph. Quality defender that works through ball athletically with smooth footwork and soft hands with clean, quick transfers. Short arm stroke into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry recorded an infield velocity of 82 mph.

Chandler Hay OF / SS / Cedar Creek, LA / 2019

Currently ranked No. 38 in Louisiana's 2019 class. Lean 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, athletic build with clear, present explosive fast-twitch actions. Elite, explosive athlete that posted a 6.37 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup with a smooth load, short stride, and balance throughout the swing. Line-drive type approach showing fluid rhythm with a simple, compact stroke and level path that stays on plane throughout the hitting zone, generating quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 91 mph. Athleticism translates well defensively, showing soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean, quick exchanges. Medium arm stroke into high-3/4 release with accuracy and solid arm strength, producing a positional velocity of 83 mph.
