Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at five 2018 graduates that have created significant recruiting buzz in the past few months with their summer, and early fall performances.
Throughout the Summer and early fall, Prep Baseball Report has been on the road scouting select ball tournaments and Legion baseball, in addition to its own Summer and Fall Showcase circuit.
Let’s dive into the five 2018 prospects:
+ Christopher Collet, C/OF, Holy Cross HS(2018)
An extremely advanced physical presence, consistently hit and produced in the middle of order for Holy Cross as a Sophmore. Biggest question will be future position, but he has shown more than enough athletic ability to make the move to a corner outfield spot, and profiles well there with his right-handed power potential.
State Rank: 36
A 6-foot, 190-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchange. Long arm action into ¾ release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 73 mph and a pop time of 2.18. Right-handed hitter that hits from tall setup, smooth load, short stride and explosive lower half. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 86 mph. Also posted a 4.4 home to 1st.
+ Luke Honeycutt, INF/RHP, West Ouachita HS(2018)
High-level performer as a Sophomore, helping lead West Ouachita to a state championship berth in class 4A. Legitamate two-way prospect that has present left-handed power and a quality right-handed fastball.

A 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with solid life and control. Showed a cutter with near slider action and sharp break at 77-78 mph. Also showed a changeup with fastball arm speed and sink action at 77-78 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced setup, smooth load, short stride and quality balance. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with slightly early rhythm, level to uphill path with strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Solid defender with soft hands, solid footwork and fields athletically. Long arm action into mid-3/4 release with carry and accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph.
+ Zane Zeppuhar, OF/LHP, St. Amant HS(2018)
Future Games participant, showed off his loose, easy left-handed power during both, the Future Games and Top Prospect Games, sending long homeruns to the pull side at both events. A high-level performer for St. Amant as a Sophomore, hitting and producing in the middle of order, helping lead the Gators to a quarterfinal berth in the class 5A playoffs.

A 5-foot-10, 170-pound outfielder and left-handed pitcher with an average, athletic frame. Solid defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, and plays through balls well. Long, loose arm action into a ¾ release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 88 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from a tall setup with a smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph. Also posted a 7.12 60 yard dash. Left-handed pitcher with long, loose arm action, slight stab into a high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 81-84 mph with slight sink. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape, gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 69-70 mph. Flashed changeup with near fastball arm speed at 72-73 mph.
+ Antonio Gauthier, INF, Barbe HS(2018)
A high-level performer as a Sophomore for perennial national power, Barbe, during their third consecutive state championship. Electrifying, spark plug type player with legitimate, impact type base-stealing ability.
State Rank: 14
A 5-foot-8, 170-pound infielders with a small, athletic frame. Quick twitch athlete that runs well. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean, quick exchanges. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and explosive lower half. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm and simple, short and level path. Finds the barrel consistently and with ease.
+ Jacob Mayo, OF/INF, St. Frederick HS(2018)
Mature, strong athlete that was a standout at the Prospect ID Showcase in September. Big arm strength from the outfield and flashed, right-handed raw power.
State Rank: 35
A 5-foot-11, 179-pound outfielder and infielder with an average, strong frame. Solid defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 91 mph from the outfield and 84 mph from the infield. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and explosive lower half. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level to slightly uphill path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph. Also posted a 7.3 60 yard dash.
