Stock Watch: 2018 Arms On The Rise

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at three 2018 pitching prospects that have improved their stock recently. Throughout the Summer and Fall, Prep Baseball Report has been on the road scouting select ball tournaments and Legion baseball, in addition to its own Summer and Fall event schedule.
Let’s dive into the three 2018 arms, who have impressed lately:
+ Bart Lane Thomas, RHP, Walker HS(2018)
A 6-foot-1, 150-pound right-handed pitcher with a long, lean, athletic frame. Long, loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with quick arm speed, solid balance, and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes upright. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with slight run and command. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with gradual break and fastball arm speed at 69-70 mph. Flashed a change up with fastball arm speed and fade action at 76-78 mph. Also showed a knuckleball at 67-70 mph.
+ Destin Dotson, LHP, Scotlandville HS(2018)
A 6-foot-6, 196-pound left-handed pitcher with highly projectable, lean, athletic frame. Long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed, solid balance and easy effort. Some rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with arm side run and solid control. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape with gradual break, occasional tight spin, depth and fastball arm speed at 67-70 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and arm side run at 66-70 mph.
+ Halen Miller, RHP, St. Amant HS(2018)
A 6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed pitcher with a lean, athletic, projectable frame. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and some effort. Some rhythm, uphill shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with slight sink, solid angle and control. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, sharp break, fastball arm speed and control at 69-71 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed, ASR action, and control at 75-76 mph.
