Akins had a strong start, the small right hander commanded his FB on both sides of the plate as well as mixing in a good CB. He was able to keep the Easley Baseball Club hitters off-balance and was able to get many ground ball outs despite the 4-3 loss. -Over on Hoover High School Field 1, we got a glimpse at what we can expect from ‘21 RHP/SS Blake McGehee of Tioga HS (LA) at the PBR Future Games (Team Select) next week. Although it was a very early start time, McGehee was ready to pitch. The righthander showcased a FB ranging 83-85 but topped at 87. He was able to command both sides of the plate and kept hitters off-balanced with his filthy slider. McGehee was electric on the mound, going 7 IP, 4 H’s, 0 R’s, 1 BB and 12 K’s.

Dinger Nation Black vs. Showcase 17U Riley
-’20 OF Yosuany Herrera from John Overton Comprehensive HS (TN) is a big, physical and athletic kid. At 5’10 185 lbs he has the ability to move in the OF, he made a diving play up the LF line today to keep a run from scoring. At the plate, his first AB with a runner in scoring position, falls behind in the count and finds a way to come through for Showcase 17U Riley and drives a ball into RF to extend the inning. All around athlete that can cover the OF.

-’20 C/3B Peyton Cowart of Faith Academy HS was one of the more physical looking kids that we saw today. With a thick lower half, Cowart was able to drive a 2 strike pitch but hit it right at the CF for an L8. Although he had nothing to show for, we have seen the pop and know what he brings to the table.

-At 6’1 175 lbs., ‘21 OF/RHP Will Passeau of St. Paul’s Episcopal brings a lot to the table. Hitting from the left side, he has an easy, smooth LH stroke. He showcased this during his 2nd AB of the day where he battled on some tough pitches and was able to sit back and drive a pitch to CF for a base hit. Passeau will be representing Team Alabama next week at the PBR Future Games at Lakepoint. Interesting follow.

Excel Blue Wave 16U vs. Dinger Nation 16U
-The biggest swing of the day came from ‘21 OF Trey Higgins of Oxford HS, who hit an absolute bomb over the 375 ft. sign in LCF on Field 3. Standing at 6’4 200 lbs, he is one of the more imposing hitters at this tournament. Hitting from the right side, Higgins walked, homered, reached on an error against the left-handed starter for Dinger Nation. In his last AB, he turned and hit from the left side versus the right-handed relief pitcher and hit a big league fly out to RF. As we have been hearing all summer, the power is there for this rising junior. Recent Mississippi State commit.
Our first look of the tournament of ‘21 OF Trey Higgins (@trey_higgins3) from @OLDGOLDSPORTS did not disappoint. The recent @HailStateBB commit hits a ? in his 2nd AB. #1 OF in our ‘21 Player Rankings. @PBRTournaments @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/sHRwHOL4W2

-It seemed like everytime ‘21 MIF Brody Moss from Helena HS stepped up to the plate, he found a barrel every single AB. Hitting in the cleanup spot, Moss had one of the best statistical games from Day 2 versus Dinger Nation. In his 1st AB, he sat back and drove a pitch up the middle for an RBI single. With a runner at 2nd in his 2nd AB, he drilled a pitch into the RCF gap for an RBI triple. In his 3rd AB in that same inning, Moss scored 2 more runs with another triple into the RCF gap. Just an impressive day for the rising junior.
Love the approach from ‘21 MIF Brody Moss of @HelenaHuskiesBB here. Stays back and shoots a FB up the middle for a 2 RBI single for @ExcelBaseball Blue Wave. Has really made strides from the last time we saw him in the 6A State Finals In 2018. @PBRTournaments pic.twitter.com/bkQ2Wi0Cpr

At 6’5 176 lbs, Stewart is arguably one of the better looking players in this tournament. He plays a clean SS and handles the bat well from the left side. Just moved from Illinois and enrolled in Next Level Academy.
-’21 RHP/OF Brayden Sanders of Lewisburg HS (MS) supplied the only run for his squad with a sac fly to CF in the 3rd. Sanders is known for being a power arm who can run his FB into the low 90’s. Ole Miss commit.
