Southeast LA Preseason ID - Quick Hits
January 11, 2022
On Saturday, January 8th, 2022, we kicked off our Winter Schedule with the Southeast Preseason ID at Mandeville High school. The event began with a pro-style workout (60’s, Defense, Batting Practice) that all position players and two-way prospects participated in. Below, we continue our coverage with a look at some of our staff's first impressions from the day.
Impressive Showing by Rummel HS Standout
It had been 2 years since we last saw 2024 SS Michael Ryan (Rummel HS) and we came away super impressed after Saturday. The athletic 5’11” 170 lbs. infielder has some present physicality to his frame with room to add more strength. He started the day off by recording a 6.59 in the 60. During BP, he recorded multiple 90 mph + exit velocities with a max exit velocity of 95 mph. The swing is simple and his path is short, as he really uses his lower half to turn the barrel to contact. On the dirt, he displayed soft hands with athletic footwork and smooth actions.
2024 SS Michael Ryan (Rummel HS) Bat speed and power were on full display during BP today, as he recorded a 95 mph EV. Fielded everything clean with smooth actions and posted a 6.59 in the 60. High follow. #BeSeen@prepbaseball | @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/S7snLa9kq3

Big Time Tools from Lakeshore Prospect
It isn’t often that we find a prospect who runs a sub 6.50 in the 60, but on Friday, 2023 Eli Lirette (Lakeshore HS) turned in a blazing 6.38 in the 60. The outfielder not only has plus speed, but also showed plus arm strength from the OF with a 91 mph positional velocity. He capped his day off by also recording an event best 96 mph exit velocity during BP. His overall game needs to continue to be refined, but the present tools are undeniable, making him an intriguing prospect for college programs.
2023 OF Eli Lirette (Lakeshore HS) had one of the best overall days today. Recorded a max exit velocity of 96 mph, threw 91 mph from the OF, and ran a 6.38 in the 60 (laser) ?. #BeSeen@prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/fhwzJ1bXnk

2025 Class Has a Good Showing
We’re quickly learning that the 2025 class in Louisiana is going to be a good one and Saturday only provided more evidence of that. 2025 SS/RHP Carter Guillory (Catholic BR HS) is another prospect with a bright future coming out of Coach Brad Bass’s program. He worked up to 84 mph on the mound, showing a quick arm stroke with aptitude for spin, and also took a good BP round with a max exit velocity of 86 mph. 2025 C Dalton Sabathe (Pearl River HS) was another pleasant surprise on the day. Wiry and athletic 6’1” 160 lbs. frame, with plenty of room to add strength. He showed athletic footwork behind the dish with a quick release and carry and backspin on accurate throws to 2B. During the bullpen portion of the day, he confidently handled the arms, even though he was unfamiliar with them.
Another exciting young prospect out of Catholic BR HS is 2025 Carter Guillory. Took some aggressive hacks today during BP, showing some pull side pop. Quick arm on the mound, up to 84 mph with the FB and feel for spin. #BeSeen@prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/cAbtKc2AAo

2025 C Dalton Sabathe (Pearl River HS) is an interesting follow from yesterday’s SELA Preseason ID. 6’1” 160 lbs. wiry and athletic. Received and blocked really well during bullpens, threw 75 mph from the crouch, and was on target to 2B. #BeSeen@prepbaseball @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/ybvMXTaB53

Trio of Uncommitted Upperclassmen
Off-campus recruiting opens back up on March 1, 2022, and we’ve got 3 names to follow for the upcoming high school season. 2023 INF/RHP Bryce Leonard (Ascension Catholic HS) came to Mandeville on Saturday, fresh out of the grind of a high school football season and did really well. Athletic 6’0” 185 lbs. frame; Leonard posted a 6.87 in the 60, threw 87 mph across the diamond, and took a quality round of BP with consistent hard contact and a max exit velocity of 90 mph. 2022 Derin Doucet (South Lafourche HS) is a physical RHH OF that displayed present pull side power with a max exit velocity of 93 mph and ran a respectable 7.20 in the 60. 2023 Evan Folse (Fontainebleu HS) finishes this group off. Durable frame with a short and quick arm action. Folse worked his FB up to 86 mph, which should tick up this spring, while mixing in two quality breaking balls (CB/SL) and a firm CH. A good uncommitted arm to follow in the 2023 class.
2023 MIF/RHP Bryce Leonard (Ascension Catholic HS) is an athletic two-way prospect. Good round of BP today with a lot of hard contact gap to gap. Hopped on the mound and sat 84-86 with the FB, and recorded a 6.87 in the 60. #BeSeen@prepbaseball @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/kqmE6yC9IF
