Louisiana Senior Games: Preview Story
September 12, 2023
The fall season has officially begun for prospects around the state and we'll kick-off our fall slate of events with our Uncommitted Senior Games, on Saturday September 16, 2023, at LSU-Eunice. We had just over forty prospects in attendance last year, and we're excited to announce that we'll have over 60 of the state's top uncommitted prospects in the 2024 class this year. Last year's Senior Games saw over a dozen of those uncommitted seniors move on to play at the next level, and we expect the same type of success this year. Below, we highlight a few of the top prospects who will be in attendance on Saturday, as well as the pitching rotations for both Game 1 and Game 2.

HITTERS TO WATCH
+ 2024 1B Gabe Guidry (Barbe HS)
6'2" 180 lbs. physical frame with broad shoulders and a strong lower-half. Guidry was recently featured in an "Uncommitted Spotlight" segment of ours, and will be one of the bats to follow on Saturday. The uncommitted first-baseman from Barbe HS showed well at our Top Prospect Games this summer, showing the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap, especially to the opposite field gap. Guidry moves well around the first base bag and has a high-level understanding of how to play the position. He also comes from strong baseball bloodlines with his brother, Gavin, who is now a sophomore at LSU.
+ 2024 OF Luke Babin (Lutcher HS)
Athletic 5'9" 165 lbs. frame. The Lutcher HS product is one of the more decorated prospects who will be in attendance on Saturday, as Babin earned 1st Team All-District and All-State honors last season as a junior, after hitting for a .413 AVG with a .526 OBP. We saw the left-handed hitter in a playoff matchup against Franklin Parish last year and we liked what we saw. He starts in an upright and balanced stance, and uses a simple load and stride to get to center, before delivering a direct path to contact. Babin stays on the ball a long time and showed the ability to hit the ball the other away.
.@PBR_Uncommitted 2024 OF Luke Babin (Lutcher HS) squares this one up the other way for a single. Comes around to score later, as Lutcher leads Franklin Parish 2-0 in the bottom of the 1st. #BeSeen@prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/iPgWAxyvHY

+ 2024 C Drake Detillier (South Terrebonne)
Physical and durable 5'11" 200 lbs. frame. As a sophomore, Detillier was a key member of the Gators magical run to the Class 4A State Title in the spring of 2022. In that game, he came up with two of the biggest hits of the game. The first was a 1 out opposite field double off the base of the right field wall that tied the game at 2-2. The second, however, was arguably the biggest hit of the game, as he unloaded on a fastball for a two out, bases clearing, three RBI double to left field to put South Terrebone up 6-5.
The Gators have made a ROARING COMEBACK here in the top of the 7th, after @PBR_Uncommitted 2024 Drake Detillier (South Terrebonne HS) delivers this 2 out, bases clearing double to LF. The Gators now lead 6-5! #BeSeen@prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/ayyCbMRplJ

PITCHERS TO WATCH
+ 2024 RHP Alex Morrison (Tioga HS)
Tall, lean, and projectable 6'2" 170 lbs. frame with long limbs and tons of room to add strength. The Tioga HS product will be a two-way player in attendance on Saturday, but his projection on the mound is what we are most excited about. We first saw Morrison at our Monroe Summer Open back in May and he showed well. He sat 81-83 mph with his FB with low-spin and heavy arm-side sink and run. We could tell that there was more in the tank and Morrison proved that, just a month later, at the PBR 16U National Championship, where he ran his FB up to 88 mph and sat 85-87 mph.

6’1” 155 lbs.
Smooth & athletic operation, sinking two seam FB, commanded to both sides of the plate. A good @PBR_Uncommitted senior to see this summer…young for grade as well. #BeSeen
FB: 81-83 mph
CB: 71-73 mph
CH: 77-78 mph@prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/Jr3uOwLJ9h
+ 2024 LHP Bennett Stakes (Southside HS)
Physical 6'4" 220 lbs. frame. Stakes was a recent riser in our 2024 State Rankings, thanks to a big summer, that started at our Top Prospect Games in June. The southpaw ran his FB up to 88 mph and sat 85-87 mph, from a near over-the-top slot with good downward tilt and arm-side run. Stakes's secondary offerings are still developing, but there's no denying the arm talent. He's also a high academic prospect, which will only help his recruiting process moving forward.
+ 2024 RHP Michael Scott (Mandeville HS)
Durable and physical 6'2" 185 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half. We last saw the Mandeville HS product at the Knights Knation opening weekend event in late-May and we liked what we saw. Scott repeats his delivery well with a longer arm stroke and releases the ball from a 3/4-high 3/4 slot. He sat 82-84 mph with his FB and worked up to 85 mph with arm-side sink and run. Scott kills spin with a late-fading 76-78 mph CH, that tunnels well off of his FB, and he can also land an "11-5" shaped low-70's CB.
