On the Hunt: Uncommitted 2019 Arms in National Rankings

With the release of PBR's 2019 National Rankings, On the Hunt, takes a look at some of the top arms left uncommitted in the class. Included in the report are future impact arms at the collegiate level from Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Ohio. All of the players show great upside with present feel for pitching.

Cullen Pharris, RHP, DeQuincy HS, LA, 2019
Pharris stood out at PBR Louisiana’s Preseason All State Games with an imposing 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame, and a fastball that sat 85-87 (he has touched 88 in the past). His quick arm delivers out of a high ¾ slot, and explodes through the zone. Pharris repeats his motion well with normal effort out front. He gets good downward angle on his fastball to produce tilt, and already flashes a solid 11/5 breaking ball thrown at 69-71. At times, Pharris slows up his motion on the breaking pitch, but he is already throwing it for strikes, and it shows signs of possibly turning into a good slider in the future. Pharris also flashes a changeup thrown with fastball arm action, and some arm side run at 81-82. What stands out about Pharris right now is his quick arm and strong lower half. As he continues to mature, and develop more muscle, expect the velocity to keep making jumps. The possibility of having a big, strong bulldog-minded workhorse at the front end of a weekend already has colleges buzzing about the young right-hander.
