By Trey Sofio
PBR Louisiana Scouting Director
The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
With the rise of other prospects around the country, a couple Louisiana prospects got squeezed out of the PBR Draft 100. The state is better known for its college baseball anyway and the 2016 class figures to have several players contribute at the Division I level and be major factors in the draft again in three years.

Others To Watch: SS/OF Zach Watson (West Ouachita HS, LA) was crosschecked some this spring thanks to his blazing speed. The 6-foot, 170-pound Louisiana State recruit can run a 60-yard dash in 6.5 seconds and get down the line in 4.0 from the right side. He is lean and athletic with quick-twitch actions. He shows a short, compact swing from the right side and has dabbled in switch-hitting. He’ll most likely move off of shortstop, but could easily handle center field with his game changing speed and athleticism.
