Commitment Spotlight: 2021 William Perkins

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Every recruiting journey is different for every prospect.  Some make their commitment early, while others have a longer path to getting where they want to be.  Senior OF William Perkins of Sterlington High School is one of those prospects that had to be patient and wait, but it has all paid off, as he has committed to the University of Louisiana-Monroe.  Perkins showed off a rare combination of power and speed at January's Northern Louisiana Preseason ID, where he posted a 6.60 60 time, 99 mph exit velocity, and a 95 mph positional velocity.  Below, he discusses what led him to commit the Warhawks, the people that have helped him along his journey, and what fans can expect out of talented Sterlington Panther team the rest of this season.

-Congratulations on committing to the University of Louisiana-Monroe.  What were the key factors in your decision to commit to play for the Warhawks?

The key factor in my decision was really making sure I chose a school that wanted me and if I was a good fit or not.  ULM showed me tremendous amounts of love and interest and all of the coaches made me feel like family.

-Are there are any people that you would like to thank for helping you get to this point?

Most importantly, I would like to thank God.  I'd also like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for their love and support, and for never giving up on me.

-We are at the halfway point of the high school season.  What can fans expect our of Sterlington the rest of the way?

People can expect us to play hard and play the game the right way.  We have a lot of work to do, but we are coming for that ring.
