Commitment Spotlight - 2023 Tate Hess
October 5, 2021
With the start of the 2021-2022 school year, college recruiters are returning back to campus to get their respective teams ready to compete this upcoming spring. In addition, many college staffs are starting to make moves on recruits that impressed over the summer and into the early part of the fall. Today, we spotlight 2023 Tate Hess (Singer HS). This week, the right-handed pitcher, announced his commitment to Coach Matt Deggs and the University of Louisiana. Hess became the 9th member of our 2021 Future Games team to announce his college commitment. Below, we discuss what led him to commit to the Ragin Cajuns, his recruitment process, and his experience at the 2021 PBR Future Games.
-Congratulations on committing to the University of Louisiana. What led you to commit to the Ragin Cajuns?
After my visit, a lot of things clicked. I fell in love with the campus and saw the facilities and how everything is set up there. Coach Deggs let me watch their practice and the decision became a lot easier for me after I saw him interact with the guys.
-All players have people that have helped them along their journey. Who would you like to thank for helping you get to this point today?
First off, none of this would be possible without our good Lord. I owe everything to him. My family has sacrificed themselves to make sure that I am able to play the game of baseball. I can't single out a coach, because every coach that I have played for has helped shape me into the player that I am today.
-You are the 9th player off of the 2021 Future Games team from Louisiana to announce their college commitment. What did you enjoy the most out of attending this summer's PBR Future Games?
Just being around guys that are like me and that have the same goals as me. It's a great event to attend. You're competing against the top uncommitted players from each state and it's something that you do not want to pass up.
-You're recruiting process has finally come to an end during your junior year of high school. What advice can you give to the next wave of prospects who are about to begin their recruiting journey?
Do not rush it and when it comes to you.....enjoy it! It's a process and it will get stressful, but make sure you find the right fit for you and your family!
