All-State Games Player Spotlight: LHP Dustin Menard

The premier event on the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana annual schedule is set for this Sunday, as 100+ of the state's top prospects are registered for the exclusive annual event.
The Prep Baseball Report All-State Games will be held at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA, home of Louisiana State University this upcoming Sunday, October 28, 2018. The invite only event is the premier annual event on the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana schedule, featuring the top prospects from across the state of Louisiana, with dozens of college coaches and professional scouts historically attending the event.
In the coming days our scouting staff will begin to preview the event, highlighting players on the current roster.
Today we take a look at one of the top left-handed pitchers in Louisiana’s 2020 class, Dustin Menard (New Iberia HS, LA).

Scouting Report
7/24/18 Currently ranked No. 21 in Louisiana’s 2020 class. Athletic 5-foot-11,180-pound frame. Left-handed pitcher working solely out of the stretch. Short arm stroke into high-¾ release, with solid balance, easy effort in delivery and upbeat tempo. Fluid rhythm with level shoulders, jumping down the mound with in-line direction and finishes athletically. Fastball showed arm side run as it was scattered around the zone at 84-87 mph, topping at 89 mph. Breaking ball showed early 11/5-shape with near fastball arm speed at 68-69 mph while change up showed slight fading action at 75-77 mph.

Short arm stroke into high-¾ release, with solid balance, easy effort in delivery and upbeat tempo. Fluid rhythm with level shoulders, jumping down the mound with in-line direction and finishes athletically. Fastball showed arm side run as it was scattered around the zone at 81-84 mph. Breaking ball showed early 11/5-shape with near fastball arm speed at 63-66 mph while change up showed slight fading action at 77-78 mph.
