The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our popular Game of the Week segment.

Team Outlook

Oak Grove finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 17-12.  The Tigers entered the LHSAA Non-Select D-IV playoffs as the #1 seed and earned a first-round bye.  They took down #16 seed French Settlement in the second round and then defeated #9 seed Grand Lake in the quarterfinals to advance to the LHSAA state tournament.  In the semifinal round, the Tigers beat #12 seed Maugham by a score of 5-4 to advance to the state championship game, where they would meet #3 seed DeQuincy.  In what turned out to be arguably the best game of the entire 2023 LHSAA state tournament, Oak Grove outlasted DeQuincy, in a 12 inning battle, coming out with the 11-10 win to secure their third consecutive state title.  Head Coach Ty Rollinson should feel really good heading into 2024, as he returns a core group of 2-3 year starters that have all been a part of the last three state title teams.  The Tigers will have to replace two key contributing seniors from a season ago with their catcher and centerfielder/closer, but we have no doubt that Coach Rollinson and company will find the right ingredients for success this spring.  Juniors Brodie Stuart and Tanner Duff are two major contributors that are back from last year's team.  Stuart was the state championship game MVP and will once again man the shortstop position and likely hit lead-off again for Oak Grove, and Duff is a physical 6'4" 270 lbs. 1B/DH that is the team's leading returning hitter from 2023.  Junior Seth Ray is another three-year starter on the infield and is also the most experienced arm back for the Tigers.  Junior Jackson Bradley has tons of big-game experience, as the's started the last two state title games on the mound for Oak Grove and also plays third base.  Seniors Spencer Foster, James Harris and Remington Waters, along with junior Luke Simmons will all play pivotal roles on this year's team.  Coach Rollinson has built a winning culture in Oak Grove, LA, so we fully expect the Tigers to be the favorites in the LHSAA Non-Select D-IV playoffs again this spring, where they'll look to win their fourth consecutive state championship trophy.
