Lafayette, LA - On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff will travel to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, to host our annual Top Prospect Games event.  Over the last three years, this invite-only event has become our marquee event of the summer, boasting over 100 of the state's best and brightest prospects across the 2025-2027 classes.    

 

EVENT HISTORY

Last summer's Top Prospect Games was certainly a treat for our staff and the college coaches that were in attendance, as a total of 26 players announced their college commitment some time after the event.  In addition, the event also served as a major identifier for our Future Games team last summer with 10 players earning invites after last year's Top Prospect Games, and this year's event is set to likely produce more with the addition of this summer's Senior Future Games for uncommitted prospects in the 2025 class.  2025 MIF Brock Laird (Natchitoches Central HS) had a big showing at last summer's event, as he posted personal-bests in several categories, while also collecting a couple of hits during gameplay.  Laird earned an invite to the Future Games after the event, which led to his eventual commitment to Southeastern Louisiana,.  2025 LHP Ross Lindsey (Natchitoches Central HS) was another Chief who had a stellar outing on the mound at last year's event, which earned him an invite to the Future Games, which led to his eventual commitment to Alabama.

 

2024 TOP PROSPECT GAMES ROSTER

There's a handful of players headed to Lafayette on Tuesday who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as a couple of new faces.  Let's check out a couple of those players below.

 

Uncommitted 2025 Prospects

+ 2025 INF Abel Thetford (Parkway HS) 

Long, lean, and wiry 6'2" 175 lbs. frame with a ton of room to add strength.  Thetford performed all spring long for the Panthers finishing with a .387 AVG, 5 HR, 10 2B, 3 3B, 34 RBI, and 38 R.  The uncommitted senior also provides some intrigue on the mound, as he went 2-0 with 2 saves and 28 K's across 26 2/3 IP this spring.

+ 2025 OF Davis Emonet (Catholic BR HS)

Emonet wasn't a starter when the Bears opened up their 2024 season, but he earned an opportunity to start a couple of weeks in to the spring and never let go of that spot.  The uncommitted senior had a jam-up junior campaign, as he finished hitting at a .370 clip and tied the team-lead with 22 SB.  

+ 2025 INF Rowen Bergeron (Opelousas Catholic HS)

A steady riser in our '25 state rankings, Bergeron bust onto the scene last fall at our State Games event and carried that momentum over into a stellar spring for the state champion Vikings.  With a 6'1" 190 lbs. frame, he certainly passes the "eye test" and has the physicality needed to make an impact as a college freshman, and his outputs are loud off the bat with exit velocities in excess of 100 mph.

6’1” 190 lbs.

Uncommitted 2026 Prospects

+ 2026 RHP Ja'Vonte Gray (Hahnville HS)

6'4" 190 long-limbed frame with a ton of projection.  Gray caught our eye this spring in a first round playoff game against Neville, and although it was only a one inning stint, he left us wanting to see more.  He's a smooth mover down the mound with a clean arm path, and a FB that reaches 88 mph, to go along with a mid-70's CB.

2026 RHP Javonte Gray (Hahnville HS)

6’3” 160 lbs.

Quick, but interesting look here at Gray. Frame certainly projects and arm works. A really good @PBR_Uncommitted N2K for the summer. #BeSeen

+ 2026 C Hudson Browning (East Ascension HS)

Physical 5'10" 190 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half.  Browning made a name for himself on our Junior Future Games team, a couple of summers ago, thanks to a short & compact stroke that produces hard gap to gap contact.  The East Ascension product has been the team's best hitter over the last two years, but we're more intrigued to the improvements and strides that he's made defensively behind the dish.

+ 2026 C/RHP Ty Lamartina (Acadiana HS)

Each summer, there are prospects who jump onto our radar out of thin air and this summer, Lamartina just might be one of those guys.  He recently attended our Lake Charles Summer ID and was stellar in every area of his game.  On the mound, he worked his FB in the 85-87 mph range with advacned feel for spin on a breaking ball up to 2800 RPM's.  At the plate, it's a simple and repeatable stroke with a line drive approach working through the middle of the field, and his defense behind the plate was really good as well.  Now, it's time to see him in live game action, against some of the best prospects in the state, and we're excited to see what he can do.
