2024 Louisiana Future Games Preview: Pitchers
July 17, 2024
Well, it's that time of the summer again, as we're just a few days away from heading east to Emerson, GA for the 2024 Prep Baseball Future Games. This invite-only event is the single largest event of the calender year for uncommitted prep prospects, who are about to enter their junior year of high school, thanks to the more than 350 college coaches that show up to the Lakepoint Sports Complex at the end of every summer. This year's Louisiana team features 19 uncommitted prospects, from different parts of the state, and is littered with talent up and down the roster. Below, we take a look at this year's pitching staff, which looks to be one of the more talented staffs that we've brought to the Future Games.
2024 LOUISIANA FUTURE GAMES PITCHING STAFF
+ 2026 RHP Hayes Holton (Loranger HS)
6'3" 185 lbs. long and lean frame with plenty of projection. The Loranger product made waves back at our Luccini Scout Day in May, running his FB up to 94 mph, but he was able to top that in the month of June, as he topped out at 96 mph at the Prep Baseball National Championships. Holton has feel to spin as well with a sweeping 78-83 mph SL with spin rates in the 2500 RPM range. The upside is immense here, which is why there will be a lot of schools locked in to his Future Games outing next week.
+ 2026 RHP Logan Sorrel (Parkview Baptist HS)
The former Jr. Future Gamer has been one of the better arms in the state's 2026 class, since he stepped foot on campus, and he was really good again this past spring for the Tigers. Sorrel stands in at a physical 6'3" 195 lbs. with a starter's profile. We've seen him up to 91 mph with his FB and he'll sit comfortably in the mid-upper 80's, but it's the metrics that stand out, as his heater reaches spin rates up to 2666 RPM's, and he releases the ball from a 6'6" release height. His feel for spin also stands out on both his mid-70's CB and upper-70's SL. Add in a firmer low-80's CH and you've got a potential weekend starter with a four-pitch mix.
+ 2026 RHP Javonte Gray (Hahnville HS)
The Hanville product screams upside with his 6'4" 190 lbs. frame, athletic delivery, and clean arm stroke. Gray works from the stretch and releases the ball from a 3/4 slot. His FB sits in the mid-80's with good life through the zone and his 73-75 mph SL tunnels well off of it. Gray is already really good, but it's exciting to think about what he can become in a couple of years.
+ 2026 LHP Lucas Lawrence (Catholic BR HS)
One of the more projectable arms in the state's 2026 class; Lawrence has steadily gotten better over the last couple of years and at last month's Top Prospect Games, he had one of his best showings. He ran his sat 84-87 mph with his FB and topped out at a personal-best 88 mph, and he also landed his low-70's CB for strikes in any count. The Catholic BR product pitched with a lot of confidence at the Top Prospect Games, so we're hoping that he continues to build on that outing leading up to next week's Future Games.
+ 2026 RHP Mills Richardson (Catholic BR HS)
An athletic mover with a quick arm action, Richardson has been a steady and consistent performer over the last couple of years, and logged meaningful innings this past spring for the Bears. Richardson is a strike-throwing machine with real feel for three pitches. He features a mid-upper 80's FB that he can land to both sides of the plate and he's got real feel for both his CB and CH for strikes to both RHH's and LHH's.
+ 2026 RHP Jayce Ruiz (Riverside Academy)
Physical and durable 6'0" 185 lbs. frame. Ruiz one of two arms that we came away impressed with at our last event of the summer at Tulane, which earned him an invite to this year's Future Games. To put it simply, the Riverside Academy product has a strong arm, as he ran his FB up to 90 mph. His 75-79 mph CB showed top-to-bottom break and his 78-80 mph SL flashed short & tight lateral break. In Ruiz's latest outing this summer, he tossed a complete game no-hitter with 13 K's.

Another @PBR_Uncommitted junior to follow from yesterday. Durable frame, physical lower-half with a compact arm stroke. FB had life through the zone. #BeSeen

+ 2027 LHP Lawton Littleton (Barbe HS)
The sophomore southpaw is the lone 2027 on this year's Future Games roster and deservingly so, after a monster freshman campaign for the Bucs. Littleton pitches with a low-pulse and can locate his mid-80's FB to all quadrants. He can land his "1-7" shaped low-70's CB for strikes and swing & miss with spin rates up over 2600 RPM's, and he also boasts a quality late-fading low-70's CH.
+ 2026 RHP Christian Sauska (Newman HS)
Sauska is the second arm from our New Orleans Summer ID at Tulane to earn a Future Games invite. We had heard about the Newman product this past spring, but he unfortunately suffered a minor injury before we could get to see him, so we were ecstatic that he decided to come to our event at Tulane. His 6'2" 185 lbs. athletic frame stands out with long limbs and projection still left. Sauska uses a low-effort delivery to pound 84-86 mph FB's in the zone with ride & run, and he also shows aptitude for spin with a near "12-6" shaped mid-70's CB.

+ 2026 RHP Kross Gillen (Opelousas Catholic HS)
Athletic and physical 6'2" 185 lbs. frame; Gillen is one of four two-way prospects on this year's Future Games Team. On the mound, the Opelousas Catholic product sits in the mid-upper 80's with his FB and can spin an "11-5" shaped CB for strikes and swing & miss. Gillen had one of the better outings that we saw this past spring, in an early season matchup against Barbe, where he held the Bucs to one run over 6 innings.
+ 2026 RHP Ty Lamartina (Acadiana HS)
The Acadiana product is one of the better stories of the summer so far. He first attended our Lake Charles Summer ID in May, which earned him an invite to our Top Prospect Games in June, and now he's a member of our Future Games team heading to Lakepoint next week. If there's one thing that we've learned about Lamartina, it's that he's super competitive, especially on the mound. He has great mound presence and works at a quick pace to attack hitters with a FB up to 89 that pairs really well with an upper-70's SL that registers elite spin rates near 2900 RPM's.
+ 2026 RHP Cole Guidroz (Central BR HS)
Guidroz was one of the top performers this past spring for the Wildcats, both on the mound and at the plate, helping Central BR get back to the quarterfinals of the LHSAA playoffs. His FB works in the 85-89 mph range and he releases it from a lower release height, which gives the pitch good carrry through the zone, and his mid-70's sweeping SL tunnels well off of it. A primary infielder, Guidroz is an athletic mover, understands how to hold runners on base, and fields his position extremely well.
+ 2026 RHP Aubrey St. Angelo (Brusly HS)
