2024 Future Games Recap: Louisiana

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Emerson, GA- The 2024 Future Games will go down as a memorable one for Louisiana.  In front of 400+ college coaches, representing every conference in the country, this year's group from the Bayou State went a perfect 3-0 for the first time ever.  Looking back at past year's Louisiana teams, this year's team may not have been the most talented, but this group had a bunch of players who were special, as they were more concerned about winning a baseball game than any individual performance.  The 2024 Louisiana Future Games pitching staff will go down as one of the best in the state's history, as they only allowed a combined six runs over twenty four innings of play and struck out a combined thirty three hitters.  Below, we provide a recap of some of the top individual performances from the 2024 Future Games.

2024 Future Games: Top Performances

+ 2026 UTIL Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS)

The Barbe product was one of the prospects who surely helped his stock at this year's Future Games, after going 4-9 (.444) on the week with 5 stolen bases.  All four of his hits were singles, but they always seemed to come at big spots in the game, like his leadoff single in the bottom of the 8th inning against Mississippi with the game tied at 3-3.  An average runner (7.06 60 Time), Ledoux played faster on the field and was a menace on the basepaths all week.  Defensively, he played every position last week with the exception of centerfield and pitcher, although he begged us to let him close the last inning of Game 3.  To put it simply, all Myles Ledoux cares about is winning, and that was evident at the 2024 Future Games to us and every college coach in attendance.

+ 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

The long, lean, and athletic 6'4" 190 lbs. outfielder opened up a lot of people's eyes at last Wednesday's Future Games workout, thanks to a pretty good combination of size and speed.  The Walker product blazed a 6.63 60, which was good for tops on the Louisiana squad, and he also posted a vertical jump of 36.5", which placed him 5th overall at the event.  At the plate, he recorded a max exit velocity of 102.5 mph and an average exit velocity of 95.3 mph, both of which were good for top-25 at the Future Games.  Montgomery only recorded one hit on the first day against Arkansas, but he didn't get much to hit the rest of the week.  He did show good plate discipline and strike-zone awareness, rarely chasing out of the zone and finishing with four walks on the week.

+ 2026 INF/RHP Aubrey St. Angelo (Brusly HS)

The Brusly product got off to a hot start in Game 1 against Arkansas, and carried that momentum into the rest of the week.  St. Angelo went 3-8 (.375) at the plate with a 2B, 2 RBI, and 2 SB, and he showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields, as his double was a line drive into the RCF gap.  Like most of our infielders, he played all four infield positions during the event and played clean defense at every stop.  On the mound, St. Angelo closed out Game 3 and earned the save against Alabama, after tossing two shutout IP with 1 BB and 3 K's.

+ 2026 INF Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)

The Sterlington product finished with only two hits last week, but the stat sheet doesn't tell the whole story.  Sheets had some unfortunate luck, as he recorded 90+ mph exit velocities in three at-bats where he didn't record a hit.  Defensively, he showed that he can make every play up the middle, and can throw on the run from different arm angles with accuracy.  Something that also may get overlooked with Sheets, is his vocal presence on the field, which is invaluable and was on full display at Lakepoint over the last week.  6'2" 190 lbs. left-handed hitting infielders aren't easy to come by, which is why we think Sheets will pretty busy come August 1st.

+ 2026 INF Andrew Sharp (Captain Shreve HS)

Sharp had been playing at a high-level all summer for the Knights Knation 16U Scout group, and that success continued last week at the Future Games.  The Captain Shreve product finished the week 3-4 (.750) at the plate with a 2B, 2 RBI, 3 SB, 5 BB, and was on-base 9/10 plate appearances.  He's another guy that plays above his overall tool-set, and plays faster on the field, especially when he's on the basepaths, as he showed that he was one of the team's best baserunners.  Sharp is a winning player and that was on full display during the team's run to a perfect 3-0 record last week.

+ 2026 RHP Hayes Holton (Loranger HS)

The Loranger product made the start in Game 1 vs. Arkansas and had to pitch in less than ideal conditions with a steady rain coming in, but he stayed composed and pitched extremely well.  Holton went after hitters with a 88-93 mph FB that probably plays best up in the zone and he showed feel to land a 75-77 mph SL for strikes.  He finished his two-inning outing giving up only 1 H and 0 ER with 0 BB and 4 K's.

+ 2026 RHP Ty Lamartina (Acadiana HS)

The Acadiana product came in to close the last two innings of Game 1 and did a really nice job.  Using a short & quick arm action, he worked four-seam FB's mostly to the glove-side and up in the zone at 88-90 mph.   His feel for spin is what really stood out, as he landed his 75-77 mph SL for strikes at will with spin rates up to 2946 RPM's.  Lamartina gave up only 2 H across his 2 IP and 0 ER with 2 K's.

+ 2026 LHP Lucas Lawrence (Catholic BR HS)

6'5" 180 lbs. long, lean, and projectable frame with a ton of room to add strength.  Lawrence made a jump at our Top Prospect Games last month and made another jump last week, running his FB up to a personal best 89 mph.  Even better, he raised his "floor" last week as well, as he consistently pitched in the 85-88 mph range and stayed down in the zone.  His low-70's CB and mid-70's SL also both showed improved shape and spin with late & sharp bite.  The Catholic BR product finished his Future Games outing tossing 2 shutout IP with 2 K's.

+ 2026 RHP Mills Richardson (Catholic BR HS)

6'1" 160 lbs. lean and athletic frame with a ton of room to add strength.  Richardson worked at a quick pace and filled the strike zone up throughout his two inning relief stint against Mississippi.  The Catholic BR product is an athletic mover down the slope with a quick and clean arm action.  His FB sat in the 83-87 mph range and he was able to command the pitch to both sides of the plate.  He also showed feel to land a low-70's CB, as well as a mid-70's CH with really good late fade.  Richardson gave up 1 ER with 3 K's and 0 BB's to cap off a solid Future Games outing.

+ 2026 RHP Christian Sauska (Newman HS)

6'2" 185 lbs. frame with broad shoulders and a strong lower-half.  Sauska tossed the 5th and 6th innings of Game 2 against Mississippi and did a heck of a job of "holding the line" for Louisiana.  The Newman product is an easy mover down the mound with a compact arm stroke and releases the ball from a near over-the-top slot.  His 84-88 mph FB played best to the glove-side and up in the zone and he showed really good feel for a mid-70's CH to both RHH's and LHH's.  Add in a solid low-70's "11-5" shaped CB and an upper-70's SL with short lateral break, gives Sauska a true four-pitch mix with starter upside.

+ 2026 RHP Cole Guidroz (Central BR HS)

Game 2 against Mississippi was Guidroz's version of Michael Jordan's "Flu Game", as he showed up to the park feeling under the weather, and was nails when he entered to close the game in the 7th and 8th innings.  The Central BR product pounded the zone with his 85-89 mph FB and tunneled a low-mid 70's sweeper extremely well off of it with up to 20" of horizontal break.  Guidroz gave up only 1 H and 0 ER with 1 BB and 2 K's to earn the win against the Magnolia State.  He also went 1-2 at the plate with a pull-side single and had three QAB's.

+ 2026 RHP Logan Sorrel (Parkview Baptist HS)

Physical and durable 6'3" 195 lbs. frame with some projection still left.  The Parkview Baptist product got the start in Game 2 against Mississippi and turned in a quality outing.  Sorrel is a good athlete and uses a long & loose arm action to release the ball from a high 3/4 slot with little effort.  His FB got up to 92 mph and sat mostly 87-90 with some slight cutting action at times.  He went to his 75-78 mph SL early and often, and showed the ability to land it for strikes and swing & miss, while also showing feel for a firmer low-80's CH with arm-side sink.  Sorrel finished his two inning start giving up only 1 ER with 1 BB and 3 K's.
