Prep Baseball Kentucky Pitcher of The Year: Leighton Harris

Chris Fuller
KY Executive Director

With the recent conclusion of the Kentucky high school baseball season, the time has come to announce the Prep Baseball Kentucky Pitcher of The Year, an award reserved for the top senior pitcher the state has to offer.

As is typically the case, this proved to be another tough decision as our staff combed through the stats. We could have chosen some other very worthy candidates for this award; Jake Schweitzer and Taylor Penn are a few of the names that were strongly considered.

After much deliberation, our staff settled on one guy, Leighton Harris.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound lefty was dominant the entire season. With a fastball that ticked 91 mph and a wipeout mid-70’s slider, Harris put up video game numbers on his way to 7 wins, 6 of which came against teams ranked in the Power 25 at the time, including No. 1 ranked Trinity.

The Kentucky recruit worked 54 innings, allowing just 23 hits, 6 earned runs, and struck out a whopping 102 hitters in compiling a 0.76 ERA.

For his outstanding performance the entire season, Frederick Douglass 2024 LHP Leighton Harris has been selected as the Prep Baseball Kentucky Pitcher of The Year.
