Kentucky Pitcher of The Week

This weekly award will be announced each Tuesday for the previous week’s games.

Week six of the Kentucky high school season saw mostly good weather across the Bluegrass State, leading to a large number of games played and some dominant pitching efforts across the state. However, as we combed through the stats, one player stood out as he dominated two out-of-state teams, both highly ranked in their respective states.

2024 RHP Jake Schweitzer, a Louisville recruit, pitched Trinity HS to two impressive wins last week against ranked teams from Ohio and Indiana. On Sunday, Schweitzer threw a five-inning shutout against Massilon Jackson (OH) in a game he allowed just two hits while striking out nine. Then on Saturday, Schweitzer did it again, this time firing six scoreless innings and allowing just one hit with 10 strikeouts in a win over Carmel (IN).

Schweitzer’s stat line for the week: 11 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 19 K.

For his outstanding performance on the field, Jake Schweitzer has been named the Prep Baseball Kentucky Pitcher of The Week for April 14-20.
