The PBR Kentucky Winter Unsigned Senior Showcase will take place on Sunday, December 14 at Legends Sports Academy in Louisville and will feature no shortage of top uncommitted arms from the bluegrass state. Below we take a look at three of the top uncommitted pitchers from the current roster that will be in attendance at the event.
Ricky West, RHP/OF, Jeffersontown HS
West is a 5-foot-10, 193-pound prospect with a strong frame who uses long and loose arm action through a high-3/4 arm slot. His arm is quick, and at the Unsigned Senior Games event in August, West’s fastball sat 83-85 mph topping at 86. He also throws an effective 68-70 mph curveball with sharp 11/5 action while mixing in a 70 mph changeup with some fade. We recently received a very credible report that West’s fastball was 85-87 mph at a camp a few weeks ago. In addition, West shows legitimate two-way potential as an outfielder as well. West is currently ranked No. 24 in the 2015 class.
Aaron McGeorge, RHP/OF, Henry Clay HS
McGeorge is a 5-foot-11, 150-pound prospect who showed a significant jump in velocity during the spring. I saw McGeorge take the mound in a relief role in the 11th Region Tournament in May, and he impressed with a fastball that sat in the 84-86 mph range. Even more interesting is the significant arm-side run his ¾ arm slot produces on his fastball, and McGeorge likes to run it on the hands of right-handed hitters. In the past, he has shown a sharp 69-72 mph curveball to go along with a solid 70-71 mph changeup. McGeorge is an athletic prospect who also shows two-way potential and the ability to play multiple positions. He is currently ranked No. 25 in the 2015 class.
Matthew Wilburn, RHP, Garrard County HS
At 6-foot-1, 215-pounds, Wilburn has a strong lower half. He works through a high-3/4 arm slot and uses his lower half well with good hip load in his delivery. At the Unsigned Senior Games in August, Wilburn showed an 82-84 mph fastball topping at 85 that showed good arm-side run and occasional sink. He also showed the ability to effectively throw his 71-73 mph curveball with sharp 11/5 action as he filled up the strike zone with both the fastball and curveball. Wilburn is currently ranked No. 66 in the 2015 class.
