Updated Class of 2020 Rankings

It had been awhile since we updated the Class of 2020 rankings, and after an active spring and summer that allowed us to see a multitude of players, it was time for a significant update.

Here is a look at the Top 5, top newcomers, big risers, top uncommitted player (not named Jackson Fristoe), and the most intriguing uncommited player.

Jackson Fristoe RHP / Paducah Tilghman, KY / 2020The 6-foot-4, 195 pound RHP had a strong showing at the Area Code Games last month with a 90-94 mph fastball and sharp 81-83 mph slider that disappeared under bats. Fristoe had been committed to Kentucky but decommitted after some coaching changes. He is close to making a commitment, but he also will garner a lot of attention from pro scouts next spring.

Skyler Brown LHP / Marshall County, KY / 2020Brown, who has been committed to Louisville since standing out at the Border Battle in the fall of 2017, has run his fastball into the low-90's this summer with an advanced changeup that produces a lot of swing and miss.

Grant Knipp C / Louisville Male, KY / 2020At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Knipp combines power at the plate and big arm strength behind the dish and was selected to represent the midwest in the East Coast Pro this summer. He is committed to Alabama.

Konnor Lewis RHP / Tates Creek, KY / 2020The 6-foot-2, 205 pound Wichita State commit has been up to 91 mph with his fastball and has added a sharp high-70's slider to his arsenal.

Seth Williams SS / Paintsville , KY / 2020Williams, a Louisville commit, combines a polished left-handed stroke with good power to all fields and the athleticism and arm to stick at SS at the next level.

Brycen Collins RHP / Bourbon County , KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 7
The 6-foot-6, 180 pound RHP burst onto the scene this summer as he played high-level travel ball for the first time. Collins stood out at our PBR Limited Series tournament at EKU with off-the-charts projection and an 85-86 mph fastball, and what was even more impressive was his ability to spin a very good low-70's curveball. Collins is just scratching the surface of his frame potential. He committed to Louisville in the days following the Limited Series event.

Trevor Amburgey LHP / Oldham County, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 4
Another stand out at our Limited Series event at EKU, Amburgey, a 6-foot-2, 170 pound lefty works his fastball at 84-86 and spins an effective 66-67 mph curveball. Given his frame and arm action, he should see significant velocity gains and develop a harder breaking ball moving forward. Amburgey is committed to Louisville.

Lucas Murphy RHP / Trinity, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 15
Murphy was a key guy down the stretch for Trinity as they made a run to the State Semifinals. At 6-foot, 185 pounds, he has a strong frame with some quickness in the arm that produced an 84-87 mph fastball and low-70's curveball when we saw him at the State Tournament.

Noah Booth LHP / Simon Kenton , KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 65 / POS: 10
We saw Booth for the first time at our Top Prospect Games event in June. He's an intriguing two-way player with an athletic 6-foot, 175 pound frame. The left-handed hitter impressed in BP with a compact swing and several hard line drives and followed that up with a double in game play. On the mound, he struggled some with command, but the arm works and produces a fastball up to 85 and tight spin on a 67-70 mph curveball with good depth.

Max Bergmann RHP / St. Xavier, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 6
The 6-foot-3, 190 pound Cincinnati commit made the expected velocity jump this summer with a fastball pushing 90 mph from a 3/4 slot that produces good run and sink while showing a swing-and-miss 73-75 breaking ball. Bergmann jumps from No. 34 to No. 16.

Adam Weihe RHP / Atherton, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 9
Another 6-foot-3 RHP who also made that velocity jump this summer, Weihe recently committed to Murray State. His fastball has been up to 88 while mixing in a good mid-70's breaking ball. Weihe moves from No. 41 to No. 24.

Daven McGee RHP / Carlisle County, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 13
The 6-foot-1, 160 pound RHP saw his fastball jump 4-6 mph this summer, but what really sets him apart is his ability to spin a sharp 72-74 mph curveball. THe fastball is now up to 87 with more in the tank. McGee recently committed to Murray State. He jumped a whopping 57 spots in the rankings from No. 88 to No. 31.

Brandon Webb LHP / Western Hills, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 5
The 5-foot-10, 170 pound Webb now sports the title as the top-ranked uncommitted lefty in the state jumping 30 spots from No. 68 to No. 38. Webb's fastball has been up to 88, but he pitches more in the 83-86 range while spinning a very effective 69-71 mph curveball and mixing in a 75-77 mph changeup. Webb shows excellent pitchability with command of his three-pitch mix.

Braxton Meguiar 2B / Logan County , KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 44 / POS: 2
Meguiar, simply put, is a baller. He's a guy every coach wants on his team because he's going to bring energy and go at it from first pitch to last. He has surprising power in his 5-foot-6, 155 pound frame with an aggressive plate approach. Meguiar's 34-game hitting streak stands as the second longest in KHSAA history, and he recorded a whopping 60 hits with 19 doubles and 7 HR this past spring. He's a sound defensive 2nd baseman to go along with his left-handed bat. Meguiar rises from No. 97 to No. 44 and is uncommitted.

Cameron Brady C / Bourbon County , KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 45 / POS: 3
What a difference a few years can make. We hadn't seen Brady in awhile until recently, and he showed why he recently committed to UT-Martin. He has very good arm strength behind the plate with good bat speed and gap to gap power at the plate. Brady jumps a whopping 76 spots from No. 121 to No. 45.

Josh Halterman 1B / Lafayette, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 1
At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, Halterman has a strong frame and hits every time we see him. At our PBR Limited Series 17U event, Halterman put on a show, squaring up everything in sight with a barrage of extra base hits, and he wasn't doing against average arms either as he consistently turned around premium velocity. He uses an all fields approach and has the power to drive the ball the other way. Halterman just ran a 7.04 60-yard dash last month, and it's possible he could also work some as an outfielder at the next level. He also has upside on the mound where he pounds the strike zone with a fastball up to 86, a low-70's curveball, and has added an effective mid-70's forkball/splitter.

James Jett OF / Louisville Male, KY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 7
At 6-foot-4, 186 pounds, Jett is really starting to come into his own while just scratching the surface of how good he can be. He has room to continue to fill out physically and brings huge upside to the table. His speed continues to improve as he ran a 6.88 60 in June while showing 85 mph arm strength from the outfield. Most impressive is the raw ability at the plate, offering impressive burst through the zone with long levers that allow him to extend through contact with ease. He has a huge ceiling offensively with his best days certainly ahead of him.
