Austin Bridgeman, RHP, Owensboro Catholic HS

Bridgeman is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound RHP with an athletic frame that offers projection at the next level, and he proved to be an intriguing prospect at the PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games in August.

Bridgeman uses long and loose arm action and works through a high-3/4 arm slot with some quickness in his arm.  In his first inning of work, his fastball varied between 80-85 mph, touching 86 on one occasion while showing late arm-side life through the zone.  While he lost some velocity in his second inning of work, sitting mostly 80-81 mph, Bridgeman’s curveball displayed sharp 11/5 action at 70 mph.  In addition, he worked his slider with late bite at 75-78 mph that has the potential to be a very good offering at the collegiate level with continued development.  He finished his hitless two inning outing with two strikeouts.

Bridgeman’s combination of size and projectability to go along with his low to mid-80’s fastball and solid secondary pitches should bode well for his opportunities to pitch at the next level.  He is currently ranked No. 44 in Kentucky’s 2015 class.
