Jacob Smiley, LHP/OF, South Warren HS, 2014

Jacob Smiley is a 6-foot-1, 182-pound LHP/OF with an athletic build who participated in the Unsigned Senior Games in August at Northern Kentucky University and Week 4 of the Fall Prospect Program at Western Kentucky University.

On the mound Smiley shows good pitchability with a fastball that tops at 81 mph with good arm-side run, good command of his 65-67 mph curveball and 73-75 mph slider, and a changeup at 70-71 mph that shows some run and sink. 

As an outfielder, Smiley has a good first step and takes good routes to the ball.  He shows athletic actions and plays through the ball well with 81 mph arm strength.

At the plate, the left-handed hitter hits from an open setup with a short stride and is a line-drive type hitter.  He registered an 85 mph exit velocity off the tee and a 4.43 home to first base time from the left-side.

Smiley is currently ranked No.125 in Kentucky's 2014 class.
