Sam Jiunta, MIF, Henry Clay HS
Jiunta is a 5-foot-9, 165-pound prospect who has attended multiple PBR events and has consistently shown he has the ability to play at the next level.
Jiunta shows fluid defensive actions with good lateral movement and body control. His ability to throw accurately on the move from multiple arm angles plays well as a middle infielder, and he gets rid of the ball quickly with short arm action. Jiunta’s top velocity has registered at 78 mph across the infield.
At the plate, the left-handed hitter utilizes a balanced stance with a short stride while maintaining good balance throughout his swing. He is a line drive type hitter who makes hard contact with a gap to gap approach and has recorded a top exit velocity of 88 mph off the tee. The best 60 time Jiunta has posted to date is a 7.38 while recording a 4.60 home to first base time.
Jiunta should find himself with several opportunities to continue his playing career at the next level. His size and arm strength project best as a collegiate second baseman. Look for Jiunta, ranked No. 74 in Kentucky’s 2015 class, to once again play a key role for Henry Clay this spring.
