Unsigned Senior Games: Team White Pitcher Analysis

The Unsigned Senior Games event saw more than 80 uncommitted class of 2015 players convene at Northern Kentucky University on August 16-17. The following is a look at pitchers who took the mound for Team White during the event. This is pitcher analysis only. Those players who were also position players at the event will have their position player analysis in a subsequent article. It should be noted that North Bullitt LHP Jacob Kelly and Tates Creek RHP/OF Matthew Neal committed to Marshall and Bellarmine respectively following the event.
Jacob Kelly, LHP, North Bullitt HS, 2015
6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect, athletic frame with projection, good tempo in delivery, works through a low ¾ slot that produces significant arm-side run on fastball which sat 80-82 mph, threw a 74 mph changeup once, secondary pitches will need continued development, allowed one hit and walked none in two innings of work, committed to Marshall University following the event.
Joseph Martin, RHP/1B, Highlands HS, 2015
6-foot, 200-pound prospect with strong frame, quick arm works through mostly a high ¾ slot, uses strong lower half well, fastball shows occasional arm-side run at 83-85 mph, throws a sharp breaking ball at 72-73 mph with late break, tends to drop down to ¾ slot on 74-76 mph changeup that produces some arm-side run, allowed one hit and struck out two in his two innings of work.
Matthew Neal, OF/RHP, Tates Creek HS, 2015
6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect with strong frame, throws from the stretch only, uses long arm action through a high ¾ slot, fastball mostly straight and sat 82-85 mph, 65-69 mph curveball showed sharp 11/5 action with some depth, also showed a 71 mph slider, easy effort in delivery, has potential for more velocity, struggled some with command, allowed one hit, walked two and hit a batter, and struck out two in his two innings of work, committed to Bellarmine following the event.
Connor Schuck, RHP, Batesville HS, 2015
6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect, athletic frame, works through a high ¾ arm slot, showed an increase in velocity from last month as fastball sat 78-83 and touched 84, appeared to get stronger as outing progressed, showed a 66-67 mph curveball with sharp 11/5 action, threw a 68 mph changeup, allowed two hits and struck out three in two innings of work.
Matthew Janocik, RHP, Male HS, 2015
6-foot, 215-pound prospect, strong lower half, lower half stays online, slide step from the stretch, uses long arm action through a high ¾ slot, fastball sat 79-84 mph with occasional hard arm-side run and sink, curveball was very good at times with sharp 11/5 action at 65-69 mph, gets around curveball at times leaving it up and flat, showed a 73 mph changeup, allowed two hits, walked three, and struck out two in his two innings of work.
Daniel Steiner, LHP, Henderson County HS, 2015
6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect, athletic frame, shorter and quick arm action, high ¾ slot, fastball sat 77-79 mph touching 80, occasional arm-side run on fastball, curveball varied between 60-65 mph with mainly 1/7 break, arm dragged a few times on curveball leaving it up, showed a 74 mph changeup, retired the side in order in both of his innings with two strikeouts.
Johnatan Breeden, RHP/3B, Dixie Heights HS, 2015
5-foot-11, 183-pound prospect, athletic frame, deliberate delivery with regular effort, lower half stays online, works through a high ¾ slot, fastball sat 78-81 mph with occasional arm-side run, curveball displayed sharp 11/5 action at 71-74 mph, throws 75 mph changeup with good arm action, good command of three-pitch mix, allowed two hits and struck out two in game action.
Zack Grogan, RHP/2B, Murray HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect, repeatable delivery with minimal effort, good lower half direction, works through a high ¾ slot, fastball sat 78-79 mph displaying occasional arm-side run, shows good command of 68-70 mph curveball with 11/5 action, likes to throw curveball on first pitch, showed a 73 mph changeup, consistently throws strikes, allowed two hits and struck out two in his inning of work in game play.
Landon Lynch, RHP, Bryan Station HS, 2015
6-foot, 165-pound prospect, uses shorter arm action through an over the top arm slot, regular effort in delivery, fastball sat 75-78 topping at 79 with occasional cutting action, 66-68 mph curveball showed 12/6 action with good depth, consistently throws strikes with both pitches, allowed two hits and walked none in two innings of work.
Logan Burnett, LHP/1B, Apollo HS, 2015
6-foot-1, 198-pound prospect, works through a ¾ slot, regular effort in delivery, fastball sat 73-75 mph with occasional cutting action, curveball varied between 62-67 mph and 1/7 to 2/8 action, tends to get around changeup causing some cutting action, allowed three hits and hit a batter in his two innings of work in game play.
