The PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games event took place at Northern Kentucky University on August 8 and provided close to 50 unsigned seniors the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the PBR Kentucky staff and several college coaches in attendance.

Complete stats for all players were posted following the event. CLICK HERE to view that information.

The following is a look at the Team Royal corner infielders who participated in the event. This is position player analysis only. Those middle infielders who also pitched at the event will have that performance featured in a subsequent article.

Michael Pope, 3B, Nashville Christian (TN), 2016
6-foot-2, 165-pound right handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, maintains good balance, loose hands, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, has room to get physically stronger, ran a solid 4.46 down the line, 76 mph exit velocity off the tee, went 2-for-5 in game play with singles to LF and RF, made contact in each AB and had a stolen base. Shows soft hands with athletic corner actions, good lateral movement, accurate arm with a long over the top release, 76 mph velocity across the infield.

Broc Kuerzi, 3B, Ballard HS, 2016
5-foot-7, 180-pound left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, short path to the ball, line drive type hitter, consistently found the barrel in BP spraying line drives to all fields, 80 mph exit velocity (83 previous best), ran 4.76 down the line, went 0-for-4 in game play with one strikeout. Defensively shows decent lateral movement, hands play well, quick exchange with a short high-3/4 release, accurate throws, 74 mph velocity was the best he has shown to date. Best current tool is his left-handed bat.

James Morsey, 1B/LHP, Bullitt East HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 165-pound left-handed hitter hits from an open stance with a big leg kick trigger and long stride, shows some flashes of power especially to the pull side, uses lower half well to generate some bat speed, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee, ran a 4.57 down the line, hit well in game play going 2-for-4 with singles to CF and LF. Has improved defensively at first base, shows soft hands and good movement around the bag, good athleticism, big target for infielders, 69 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Zach Volz, 1B/RHP, Conner HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 305-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, has strength in swing and show pull side power, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee, ran 5.69 down the line, went 1-for-4 in game play with a home run to left-center and two strikeouts. Defensively, shows capable hands, slow footwork with limited movement, 76 mph velocity across the infield. With some work on his body, Volz has some potential to play at the next level.
