Over the next few weeks, we will continue to take a look at players who will be participating in the PBR Kentucky Top Prospect Games at Western Kentucky University June 16-17. The event affords players the opportunity to showcase their abilities in pre-game infield/outfield, batting practice, and game play. More than 40 players who attended last year’s Top Prospect Games event have committed to play at the college level with many more yet to come. This year’s event will feature the top uncommitted Class of 2016 and 2017 players from across Kentucky.
CJ Bush participated in the Preseason All-State Showcase in February and impressed at the event. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound 1B, a member of Team KY for the Future Games last summer, shows very good athletic ability for his size to go along with his power at the plate. The following is a look at Bush’s scouting report from that event.
2/14/15 - 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect showed his combination of power and athleticism, right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, has quieted down his pre-pitch hand movement, explode with lower half, god extension through contact, legitimate power threat at the plate, showed his ability to generate bat speed with 97 mph exit velocity, surprising speed for size with 6.94 60-yard dash. Defensively, participated at both corner infield spots, moves well, 81 mph arm strength across the infield, potential middle-of-the-order bat at the next level.
Bush, currently ranked No. 14 in Kentucky’s 2016 class, will put his power on display on June 16-17 at the Top Prospect Games at WKU.
