Teams across the country are in the thick of the 2015 season, trying to make a push toward the postseason. Experience is a key factor to success, but some teams are getting contribution from unlikely sources—freshmen. Listed alphabetically below are several 2018s from the Prep Baseball Report coverage area that have had an impact at the varsity level this spring.
Riley Bertram, MIF, Zionsville HS, IN
The 5-foot-11, 165 pound freshman starts at second base for the No. 7 Eagles. In arguably the toughest conference in Indiana (Hoosier Crossroads), the switch-hitter is hitting a respectable .260 with four doubles in 56 plate appearances. Bertram, ranked No. 18 overall, possesses quick, athletic actions in the field with arm strength.
