An update to the 2019 Overall Rankings is coming Thursday and with strong performances at big events like the Prep Baseball Report Future Games and Area Code Underclass Games, there are several prospects that find themselves making a climb.
Jon Campbell, SS, Detroit Country Day School, MI
Campbell, a 6-foot-1, 178-pounder, led Team Michigan in hits at the Future Games, including the game-winners in the first two games. He has an athletic frame and can play all over the field. He even hopped on the mound and showed a low-80s fastball. He is now ranked in the top 20 in the state.
Jamison Covey, RHP, Colonel Richardson HS, MD
Covey has a projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame that will continue to get better as he adds strength down the road. He pitches with a simple, repeatable delivery, getting lower half involvement and pitching with regular effort from a high-3/4 slot. Covey burst onto the scene this summer and showed well at the PBR Maryland Underclass Prospect Games in June, topping out at 88 mph to go with a breaking ball that has hard, late action. He recently committed to Mississippi.
